The Opportunity:
The Office of Research at Washington State University (WSU) is responsible for advancing the research enterprise at WSU systemwide. The Office of Research facilitates all aspects of the research from pre-award to compliance, advancement, development, and commercialization. The Office of Research amplifies WSU's land-grant mission by partnering with the university community, industry leaders, and other stakeholders to advance, extend, and grow the positive impact of WSU research for the state, region, and nation.
Summary of Duties:
Under general supervision the Fiscal Specialist 1 performs a variety of fiscal and administrative functions for the entire Office of Research area. The primary functions include maintaining and modifying fiscal records & IP databases; tracking and maintaining records related to internally funded innovation projects, invoicing clients for income and reimbursements; receiving, reviewing, and recording all incoming payments; maintaining and purchasing office supplies; reconciling monthly purchasing cards and travel card; preparing specialized financial reports; performing fiscal tasks in Workday, and other clerical duties as assigned. The Fiscal Specialist 1 will exercise independent judgement to interpret and apply principles of established procedures; independently advise staff regarding applicable policies; and make recommendations to improve efficiency.

Additional Information:
This is a full-time (100% FTE), permanent position. This position is overtime eligible.
Monthly Salary:
$3,653 to $4,866 | Range 40 (Steps A-M) | Successful candidates are typically hired at the beginning of the salary range and receive scheduled salary increment increases in accordance with WAC 357-28.
In accordance with RCW 49.58.110, the above salary reflects the full salary range for this position. Individual placement within the range is based on the candidate’s current experience, education, skills, and abilities related to the position.

Required Qualifications:
Three years of fiscal record keeping experience; OR equivalent education/experience
Demonstrated experience with spreadsheets
Experience working with databases
Demonstrated computer skills, including the ability to use office software such as Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook, and/or Web Browsers
Demonstrated organizational skills and attention to detail
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with researching and interpreting policies and procedures
Experience with WSU Administrative systems
