Underwriting Operations Analyst (Hybrid Role)
Edmonton, Alberta
Our client is a well-established insurance organization with a strong reputation for its people, culture, and commitment to innovation. As their Underwriting Operations team continues to grow, they are looking to add an experienced Underwriting Operations Analyst to their Edmonton team.
Reporting to the Manager, Underwriting Systems & Operations, this role will play an important part in ensuring underwriting rules, products, processes, and pricing are accurately implemented across the organization’s systems. The successful candidate will act as a key link between underwriting and technical teams, while also contributing to process improvements, system enhancements, and broader business initiatives.
What You’ll Do
- Lead assigned projects from planning through to successful implementation.
- Lead the testing and validation of complex underwriting rules, product updates, pricing changes, and system enhancements.
- Identify opportunities to improve processes, workflows, and system efficiencies.
- Provide guidance, mentorship, and oversight to junior analysts.
- Act as a subject matter expert on underwriting systems, processes, and business logic.
- Partner with business and technical teams to identify and resolve system and process issues across multiple platforms, including Guidewire, Broker Management Systems, EDI/eDocs, and third-party quoting tools such as Applied and Acturis.
- Develop and deliver training materials related to underwriting systems and processes using a variety of training methods.
- Work closely with leadership on strategy, reporting, implementation planning, and process improvements.
- Support the preparation and completion of regulatory reporting as required.
- Take on other projects and responsibilities as required.
What You’ll Bring
- Post-secondary education in a relevant discipline.
- Completed CIP or FCIP designation.
- 7+ years of relevant underwriting experience.
- Strong understanding of underwriting principles, insurance products, and pricing.
- Experience working with business systems, process documentation, system testing, and implementation.
- Experience developing and delivering training materials.
- Personal Property or Farm underwriting experience is considered an asset.
- Experience with Guidewire is an asset.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and project management skills.
- Ability to effectively collaborate with both business and technical stakeholders.
