About TaskUs
TaskUs is a global provider of outsourced digital services and next-generation customer experience to the world’s most innovative companies. We help elite tech brands scale, adapt, and build cutting-edge solutions. If you love technology, leadership, and driving operational excellence, you’ll fit right in.
Role Overview
Think of yourself as the architect of fleet readiness and the champion of operational excellence. As an Autonomous Vehicle Operations Team Lead, you will manage day-to-day field and depot operations, ensuring your team delivers on Service Level Agreements (SLAs) and achieves key Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).
You will manage a high-performing team of Vehicle Data Collection Specialists (Drivers) operating fleet vehicles on a major rideshare platform. Serving as the definitive vanguard for operational command during your shift, you will oversee pre-deployment quality checks, ensure adherence to safety standards, manage onboard data hardware (LiDAR, HD cameras, data loggers), and guide your team through complex technical transitions in a 24/7/365 operating environment.
Key Responsibilities
Team Leadership & Performance Management: Directly manage, mentor, and coach a team of specialists across shifts. Conduct regular 1-on-1s, team huddles, performance reviews, and coaching sessions to drive accountability, hit continuous goals, and foster professional growth.
Operational Execution & Depot QA: Oversee depot processes, including pre/post-trip sensor calibrations, camera lens checks, and recording hardware readiness. Establish daily audits to ensure 100% compliance with SOPs, data quality standards, and vehicle safety protocols.
Incident Escalation & Operational Command: Serve as the primary point of contact for high-impact fleet incidents, hardware/software disruptions, and safety events. Review sensor streams and environmental context to make authoritative decisions (e.g., approving fallback paths, commanding minimal risk maneuvers, or escalating bugs to central teams).
Workforce Planning & Shift Schedule Management: Oversee shift coverage within a 24/7/365 environment, managing structured schedule matrices (such as DuPont Shift Schedules) to ensure seamless handovers, fatigue management, and zero coverage gaps across 7-day operating windows.
Cross-Functional Communication & Reporting: Act as the operational anchor between field teams and central stakeholders (including Software Engineering, Dispatch, and Operations Managers). Provide weekly KPI metric reporting, root-cause analysis (RCA), and operational feedback.
Passenger Operations & Compliance Oversight: Ensure driver compliance with local traffic laws, 3-year continuous driver licensing criteria, rideshare platform guidelines, and TaskUs safety protocols.
Basic & Required Qualifications
Leadership Experience: Minimum 3+ years of proven experience in a supervisory or leadership role within high-stakes, tech-enabled, mobility, logistics, or safety-critical environments.
Valid Driver’s License: Active US driver’s license with a clean driving record (meeting standard rideshare driver eligibility requirements).
Driving Background: Minimum 3 years of continuous, actively licensed driving experience.
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Operations Management, Logistics, or a related technical field is preferred (or equivalent practical experience).
Technical & Analytical Proficiency: Highly proficient with data analysis tools (Google Sheets/Excel) and experience using operations management software, dashboards, touchscreen interfaces, and technical checklists to drive decisions.
Strategic Problem Solving: Strong analytical skills with a history of using data to implement corrective action plans and lead Root Cause Analysis (RCA).
Preferred Qualifications & Traits
Safety-First Mindset: Prioritizing public safety, driver well-being, and compliance over speed or delivery ETAs.
AV & Sensor Experience: Direct experience in Autonomous Vehicle (AV) operations, fleet management, or mapping/data collection projects. Fundamental understanding of sensor systems (LiDAR, optical cameras, GPS telemetry).
Communication Skills: Exceptional ability to serve as the "eyes and ears" for software engineers and central dispatch.
Physical Demands & Work Environment
Shift Flexibility: Ability to maintain a healthy sleep-wake cycle while managing rotational day, evening, or night shifts in a 24/7/365 operation.
Vehicle & Depot Presence: Comfort spending extended periods inside a vehicle cab equipped with monitors and hardware (up to 8–10 hours per shift).
Adverse Weather Capability: Experience managing operations or driving across diverse weather conditions (heavy rain, snow, high winds) to test system boundaries.
Equipment Handling: Ability to perform light lifting or moving of calibration equipment and conduct exterior vehicle sensor inspections.
How We Partner To Protect You: TaskUs will neither solicit money from you during your application process nor require any form of payment in order to proceed with your application. Kindly ensure that you are always in communication with only authorized recruiters of TaskUs.
