Job Summary
Provides advanced pre-hospital and interfacility care to critically ill or injured patients requiring specialized monitoring, interventions, and transport. Operates as part of a multidisciplinary team, delivering high-acuity care in ground and air transport settings. Responsible for performing advanced clinical procedures, managing complex equipment, and ensuring safe, timely, and effective patient care in accordance with established medical protocols, regulatory standards, and organizational policies. When assigned, will provide operational oversight of an assigned shift in absence of the Supervisor.Essential Functions

Provides high-level pre-hospital and interfacility care to critically ill or injured patients, including advanced airway management, ventilator support, hemodynamic monitoring, and medication infusions.
Safely operate and manage specialized equipment such as ventilators, infusion pumps, and advanced cardiac monitors.
Collaborates with physicians, nurses, respiratory therapists, and other healthcare professionals to deliver coordinated patient care.
Performs rapid patient assessments and implement critical interventions in dynamic environments.
Maintains readiness for response by ensuring proper equipment function, cleanliness, supply availability, and vehicle/aircraft preparation.
Document patient care, interventions, and transport details in compliance with organizational and regulatory standards.
Adheres to safety protocols and regulatory requirements, including FAA, DOT, OSHA, and state EMS guidelines where applicable.
Participates in training, continuing education, and quality assurance activities to maintain competency and promote best practices.
Provides mentorship and clinical guidance to paramedic team members and students when appropriate
Maintains positive interpersonal relationships with colleagues, Emergency Medical Systems (EMS) representatives, hospitals and the public.
May be assigned as a Field Training Officer (FTO) for new employee orientation or those in need of additional training or oversight.
Performs Point of Care (POC) testing with approval of Administration.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Supervisory/Management Responsibilities
This is a non-management job that will report to a supervisor, manager, director or executive.
Minimum Requirements
Education - High School diploma or equivalent OR post-high school diploma/highest degree earned.
Experience - Two (2) years as a paramedic

Required Certifications, Registrations, Licenses
South Carolina Department of Public Health (SCDPH) Paramedic (within twelve (12) months of hire if new resident), National Registry Paramedic Certified
Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP)
A valid driver’s license; an acceptable motor vehicle record, as defined by the Acceptable Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) Chart.
Must hold one of the following critical care certifications from International Board of Specialty Certifications (IBSC): CFRN (Certified Flight Registered Nurse); OR FP-C (Flight Critical Care Paramedic): OR CCP-C (Critical Care Paramedic Certification); OR CCEMTP (Critical Care Emergency Medical Transport Program)
PHTLS (Prehospital Trauma Life Support)- PREFERRED
ITLS (International Trauma Life Support)- PREFERRED
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Proficient computer skills (word processing, spreadsheets, database, data entry)
Knowledgeable in use and routine maintenance of all equipment and supplies.
Ability to maintain competency in knowledge and skills by participating in ongoing laboratory and clinical experiences.
Ability to provide care for patients across the lifespan in assigned clinical area.
Ability to attend a minimum of eight (8) critical care educational programs per year pertinent to practice.
