Job Description:
The SOS Temporary Program is the State of Nebraska’s inhouse staffing service, placing motivated talent into high impact, limited term roles that help keep the State’s agencies, boards, and commissions moving forward. Expected Length of Temporary Assignment: March 1st, 2027
Conducts automobile drive tests to evaluate applicants’ ability to operate a motor vehicle safely and in accordance with Nebraska laws and DMV standards. Verifies that required vehicle equipment is functioning, explains testing procedures, observes and scores applicant performance, records test results, and provides re-examination instructions when applicants do not meet passing standards. Maintains professionalism, impartiality, confidentiality, and safety while interacting with applicants of varying experience and ability. This temporary position is limited to drive-testing duties and does not process or issue licenses, permits, or identification cards.
Job Duties:
Conduct scheduled automobile drive tests in accordance with Nebraska DMV procedures and scoring standards. Confirm each applicant is authorized and eligible to take the drive test. Inspect the test vehicle for required equipment and basic operational safety. Explain drive-test procedures, expectations, and safety requirements. Observe and evaluate the applicant’s ability to safely control and operate the vehicle. Assess compliance with traffic laws, signs, signals, right-of-way rules, and safe-driving practices. Accurately score and document drive-test results. Inform applicants whether they passed or failed and explain re-examination procedures when applicable. Maintain applicant confidentiality and safeguard testing records. Remain professional, impartial, and calm when interacting with inexperienced, nervous, or difficult applicants. Other duties as assigned and within the scope of the classification.
Requirements / Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications: Experience working with the public in a customer service capacity or working with motor vehicle laws.
Preferred Qualifications: Must have a current Nebraska Drier's License with a good driving record.
Other: Regular and reliable attendance required.
