The Consumer Lending Supervisor is responsible for overseeing loan processing and manual underwriting operations to ensure efficient workflow, timely decision-making, and adherence to service level expectations. This role provides leadership and support to processing and underwriting staff by assigning workloads, monitoring productivity and quality, conducting coaching and training, and ensuring compliance with credit policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements. The supervisor also serves as an escalation point for complex applications, merchant inquiries, documentation issues, and operational challenges, while providing hands-on underwriting and processing support as needed to maintain operational excellence and customer service standards.ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Supervise evening loan processing and manual underwriting activities.
- Assign workloads and manage queue coverage and service levels.
- Review and decision applications within delegated authority as needed.
- Resolve escalated application, documentation, and merchant questions.
- Ensure decisions follow credit policy, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
- Monitor productivity, quality, turnaround time, and attendance.
- Complete quality reviews and provide coaching and feedback.
- Train staff on systems, procedures, and documentation requirements.
- Escalate material credit, fraud, staffing, or system issues.
- Provide direct processing and underwriting support as needed.
SKILLS & ABILITIES
- Front-line leadership, coaching, and performance management.
- Knowledge of consumer lending, loan processing, and manual underwriting.
- Ability to apply credit policy and delegated lending authority.
- Sound judgment in a high-volume environment.
- Strong organization, prioritization, and problem-solving skills.
- Clear written and verbal communication.
- Proficiency with loan systems, Microsoft Office, and fraud tools.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- High school diploma or equivalent required; college degree preferred.
- At least 3 years of consumer lending, processing, underwriting, or related experience.
- Prior team lead or supervisory experience preferred.
- Experience reviewing applications and resolving documentation issues.
- Equivalent education and experience may be considered.
