Job Description:
The Pharmacy Clinical Manager acts as the principal point of contact for safe and appropriate medication use through education and physician liaison activities. Provides leadership to the department in the provision of clinical pharmacy services and drug information to medical, nursing, and ancillary staff. Facilitates the development, implementation, and maintenance of systems that promote optimal patient outcomes through safe, appropriate, and cost-effective medication therapy.

Responsibilities:
- Develop, maintain, and monitor clinical pharmacy services.
- Develop, maintain, and supervise clinical training/education of pharmacists and support staff.
- Ensure continued competence of clinical staff and provide input into clinical performance.
- Serve as a clinical resource for providers, pharmacists, and nurses.
- Oversees activities of clinical pharmacy specialists (as applicable to the site)
- Oversees activities of pharmacy residents and/or students (as applicable to the site)
- Staffing responsibilities as required.
- Provide education and training to medical, nursing, and ancillary staffs regarding pharmacotherapy or related topics.
- Actively participate as pharmacy representation on Pharmacy and Therapeutics and other committees as assigned and implement their decisions throughout the facility.
- Participates in residency programs as applicable.
- May serve as Residency Program Director (See Residency Program Director job description).
- In conjunction with the Director of Pharmacy, coordinate the pharmacy’s quality assurance program, including medication use evaluation, medication safety, pharmacy, and stewardship initiatives.
- Review medical literature to determine its scientific merit and applicability to the organization.
- Facilitate the development and implementation of evidence-based treatment guidelines, protocols, order sets, and formulary changes as approved by the appropriate committees.
- Actively participate in meeting regulatory standards.
Requirements:
- Graduate of accredited College of Pharmacy
- If designated as the AMS committee (co-)leader, one of the following is required:
- Board Certification in Infectious
- Diseases within 3 years of hire
- Certification/education, such as that offered by nationally recognized antimicrobial stewardship education programs, within 3 years of hire
- Completion of PGY-2 Infectious Diseases ASHP-accredited Pharmacy Residency.
- 5 Years Experience in Clinical Practice Required
- Kentucky and/or Indiana Board of Pharmacy license in good standing as applicable to practice site
- Must obtain BLS/ACLS within 6 months
