What you'll do...
Role summary:The Software Engineer III will contribute to the design and development of software solutions by collaborating with cross-functional teams during project discovery and implementation phases. This role involves troubleshooting complex issues, performing root cause analysis, and delivering scalable, maintainable code aligned with business requirements. The engineer will manage project tasks, support continuous integration and deployment, and provide technical guidance to small engineering groups. Emphasis is placed on ensuring high-quality deliverables, adhering to security standards, and driving improvements through testing and performance monitoring to support business objectives effectively.
About the team:
The Walmart Catalog Engineering team develops scalable microservices and enhances platform integrations to improve Seller and supplier experiences. The team independently addresses critical software and production challenges, contributing to key projects within a leading global retailer. Operating in a dynamic environment, members collaborate with a focus on technical excellence and continuous improvement. Responsibilities include designing, developing, and maintaining robust catalog services that support business transformation and deliver measurable value across Walmart’s extensive ecosystem. The team emphasizes best practices, iterative development, and advanced technologies to achieve strategic objectives.
What you'll do:
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop high-level designs for small to medium-sized projects.
- Analyze and troubleshoot business and production issues, performing root cause analysis and implementing solutions.
- Translate project requirements into technical solutions, ensuring alignment with business objectives and scalability needs.
- Write, test, and maintain code adhering to coding standards and security policies.
- Develop automation scripts to support continuous integration and delivery processes.
- Monitor application performance, conduct maintenance, and resolve defects to ensure system reliability.
- Provide guidance and mentorship to small engineering teams, supporting project delivery and knowledge sharing.
What you'll bring:
- Proven experience in software design, development, and delivery using object-oriented programming and iterative development methodologies.
- Strong technical acumen with proficiency in API design, platform development, and component services.
- Expertise in debugging, dev testing, and continuous integration/continuous delivery (CI/CD) processes.
- Ability to analyze requirements, perform root cause analysis, and develop sustainable technical solutions.
- Experience managing complex projects, collaborating cross-functionally, and communicating effectively with stakeholders.
- Knowledge of telemetry implementation, security standards, and software maintenance tools.
- Demonstrated capability to mentor and guide small engineering teams.

The annual salary range for this position is $90,000.00 - $180,000.00 Additional compensation includes annual or quarterly performance bonuses. Additional compensation for certain positions may also include :
