JOB DESCRIPTION
GENERAL DESCRIPTION:
The Speech Language Pathologist Assistant provides speech language therapy, education, plans and support to ECI children and families under the clinical supervision of the Speech Language Pathologist (SLP-CCC).
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Develops, implements and provides individual speech language therapy with infants and toddlers in a variety of inclusive and natural settings.
Provides families with consultation and therapy services in the home, clinic, or other community-based settings
Uses assistive technology/adaptive equipment to assist in daily living skills and to promote independence.
Provides consultation and training for other Interdisciplinary team members to facilitate therapy programs.
Implements clinical feedback and service plans assigned by the Speech Language Therapist.
Coordinates interdisciplinary services for families.
Completes accurate and timely documentation including progress notes, and other required documentation.
Contributes to the growth of the agency through additional activities (i.e. volunteering, outreach, committees, etc.)
Attends weekly and other required ECI team meetings.
Works in accordance with ECI philosophy regarding natural environment and teamwork with other ECI practices to include working in the homes of families served and other community-settings (i.e. daycares)
Complies with ECI of Metrocare and ECI State policies and procedures.
Performs other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Bachelors Degree in Speech Language Therapy or other applicable area.
Two (2) or more years experience working with individual with intellectual developmental disabilities.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:
Ability to work with reports and numbers.
REASONING ABILITY:
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out simple one or two-step instructions. Ability to deal with standardized situations with only occasional or no variables.
COMPUTER SKILLS:
Use computer, printer, and software programs necessary to the position (e.g., Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint).
Ability to utilize Internet for resources.
Ability to use Metrocare computer software (My Avatar, Northstar, T-Kids, Word, etc.)
CERTIFICATIONS, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:
Licensed Speech Language Therapy Assistant by the Texas State Board of Examiners.
Current State of Texas Driver License or if you live in another state, must be currently licensed in that state. If licensed in another state, must obtain Texas Driver License within three (3) months of employment.
Liability insurance required if employee will operate personal vehicle on Center property or for Center business. Must be insurable by Centers liability carrier if employee operates a Center vehicle or drives personal car on Center business. Must have an acceptable driving record.

While performing the duties of this job, the incumbent is required to talk and hear, use hands and fingers to operate a computer and telephone. The incumbent must be able to carry material (up to 15 pounds) to meetings. Have personal transportation to-and-from sites of meetings.
TRAVEL:
In-state travel.
None-to-Negligible travel outside of the county.

Positions that are community-based, in whole or part, require the incumbent to travel between various work sites within his/her workday/workweek. The incumbent is required to have reliable transportation that can facilitate this requirement. The incumbent is further required to meet the criteria for insurability by the Centers risk management facilitator; and produce proof of minimal auto liability coverage when applicable. Failure to meet these terms may result in disciplinary action up to and including termination of employment, contract or other status with Metrocare.
