At Avon, we're passionate about creating high-quality beauty products that our customers can trust. As a Chemist in our Quality Assurance team, you'll play a vital role in ensuring that cosmetic formulations meet the highest quality, safety, and production standards. Working closely with manufacturing, laboratory, and cross-functional teams, you'll help maintain product consistency, support continuous improvement, and contribute to the smooth operation of our production processes. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with a strong scientific mindset who enjoys combining laboratory work, technical analysis, and collaboration to deliver exceptional products.Key responsibilities:
- Monitoring cosmetic formulation parameters to ensure compliance with established processing standards.
- Approving formulations during production and making adjustments related to colour and physicochemical characteristics when required.
- Conducting laboratory testing of cosmetic formulations and evaluating key quality parameters.
- Assessing cosmetic raw materials, understanding their role within formulations, and keeping up to date with ingredient trends and innovations.
- Maintaining accurate documentation and records using LIMS, MS Excel, E1, and MES systems.
- Archiving raw material and formulation samples following laboratory testing activities.
- Monitoring, reviewing, and updating standards for raw materials and cosmetic formulations.
- Calibrating laboratory equipment and overseeing calibration and adjustment activities performed by external service providers.
- Collaborating with manufacturing and other internal teams to support production processes and troubleshoot technical or quality-related issues.
- Contributing to continuous quality improvement initiatives and promoting best laboratory practices.
What we're looking for:
- Degree in Chemistry, Cosmetic Science, Chemical Engineering, or a related scientific discipline.
- Previous experience in a quality assurance, quality control, laboratory, or manufacturing environment within the cosmetics, personal care, pharmaceutical, chemical, or related industry.
- Knowledge of cosmetic formulations, raw materials, and physicochemical testing methods.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with excellent attention to detail.
- Experience working with laboratory equipment and calibration processes.
- Familiarity with laboratory documentation and quality management systems, including LIMS.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and confidence using operational and manufacturing systems.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively in a fast-paced production environment.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to build effective relationships across different teams.
