Job Description

Job Summary:

Materials managers support the complete material flow cycle — from purchase to planning and control of work in process to the finished product. Organizations depend on effective materials managers to ensure that available goods can satisfy customer demand, minimize waste, manage inventory levels and keep output in line with the company’s balance sheet.

 

Job Description:

• Responsible for the daily execution of the operations plan
• Assist in the development of policies, guidelines, and procedures to ensure quality and cost control
• Understand the cost drivers at the site. Execute standard work to minimize inventory variances.
• Conduct distribution and network studies, monitor inventory, and analyze requirements to develop strategies to achieve desired delivery times and order fill rates
• Drive innovation and continuous improvement at the site.  Champion change management to support operational improvements
• Develop and implement supply chain plans to positively impact the production, distribution, and inventory of finished products and WIP to enhance efficiency of product flow
• Work with the Supply Chain Coordinators to monitor order queue.  Ensure balance of labor, equipment and warehouse work tasks
• Collaborate with PIC and Procurement to ensure raw material and additive inventories are maintained at optimal levels to support the manufacturing schedule.
• Quickly address problems, issues or adjustments as required to execute the operations plan and ensure on time customer shipments
• Monitor employee productivity and provide constructive feedback to help employees obtain and maintain maximum productivity levels
• Maintain appropriate records and prepare reports
• Coordinate logistics activities with internal and external customers
• Maintain a safe work environment and promote the stay safety alert culture by completing safety engagements and safety walks. Ensure monthly safety training is delivered to all employees.
• Supervise, engage, coach and counsel the Lift Truck Operators and Team Leads
• Successfully implement PEPS for Supply chain at the Moorhead location.
• Other duties as assigned

Production Schedule Requirements:

• BA/BS Degree Preferred in logistics or related field
• 5+ years of management experience in Distribution/Warehouse Logistics
• Proven success in improving Warehouse performance
• Strong leadership and interpersonal skills
• Have the ability to lead by example, coach and mentor hourly and salary direct reports
• Experience with Warehouse Management Systems (WMS); JDA (Red Prairie) a plus
• Experience with Enterprise Resource Planning Systems (ERP); SAP a plus
• Self-Directed & demonstrates the ability to proactively identify and resolve discrepancies or potential issues
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Detail orientated, with high analytical ability
• Demonstrated financial acumen
• Excellent problem identification & follow through to issue resolution
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to multi-task and prioritize
• Demonstrates the ability to work well with a variety of individuals.
• Demonstrates an understanding of automated distribution 

Physical requirements:

This position is located in a manufacturing location. Physical requirements will include but are not limited to:

• Standing for lengthy periods of time (frequent)
• Sitting for extended periods of time (frequent)
• Climbing up/down stairs/ladders/platforms (occasional)
• Working in a manufacturing environment that includes periods of hot and cold weather, dust, noise above 85 dBA, occasional odors, and moving equipment (occasional)
