Pharmacy Technician – Grocery Store Pharmacy

Position Summary:
The Pharmacy Technician supports the pharmacist in providing safe, accurate, and timely medication services to customers. Responsibilities include processing prescriptions, assisting with inventory management, and delivering excellent customer service in compliance with state and federal regulations.

Key Responsibilities:

• Assist pharmacists in filling and labeling prescriptions accurately.
• Enter and process prescription and insurance information in the computer system.
• Communicate with insurance companies for billing and prior authorizations.
• Maintain confidentiality of patient records and prescription information.
• Receive and store incoming pharmaceutical supplies; maintain inventory levels.
• Help manage the pharmacy workflow and ensure timely customer service.
• Answer phone calls and address basic customer inquiries or direct them to the pharmacist.
• Assist in processing refills and contacting prescribers for refill authorizations.
• Handle transactions at the pharmacy register, including cash, credit, and insurance copays.
• Follow state and federal laws, including HIPAA and pharmacy regulations.
• Keep work areas clean, organized, and compliant with safety and sanitation guidelines.

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) preferred or required by state regulations.
• State pharmacy technician license or registration (if applicable).
• Basic computer and data entry skills.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
• Excellent customer service and communication skills.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and as part of a team.

Physical Requirements:

• Standing for extended periods.
• Lifting up to 25 lbs occasionally.
• Frequent use of hands for typing and handling medication containers.
