Operator

Overview

To ensure accurate scanning, tracking, and verification of goods, pallets, and stock movements within the manufacturing area, scanning stock to warehousing to maintain inventory accuracy and support efficient distribution of stock to warehouse. 

 

 

Responsibilities

• Operate handheld or fixed scanners to capture barcodes on products, pallets, or documentation.
• Verify stock against system records and physical items.
• Ensure accurate inbound and outbound scanning of goods.
• Assist with stock counts scanning, movement and reconciliation through scanning accuracy performance.
• Identify and report discrepancies (e.g., missing, damaged, or mislabeled items).
• Follow standard operating procedures (SOPs) and safety guidelines.
• Maintain scanner equipment (charging, handling, troubleshooting basic errors).
• Support warehouse processes (receiving, put-away, picking, dispatch).
• Basic warehouse operations, barcoding system, inventory control.
• Attention to detail, accuracy in scanning, basic computer/data entry.
• Follow instructions, multitask, communicate clearly with supervisors and team members.

 

 

Qualifications

• Availability to work shifts
• Availability to work overtime
• Ability to follow instructions
• Grade 12
• Computer literacy – Basic MS Office
• Minimum 2 years' experience in a warehouse, preferably in an FMCG environment
• Ability to work in a pressurized environment
• Communication skills – Verbal
