Position Summary:

The candidate will be responsible for:

  • Taking care of the animal colony and genotyping of all the animal models housed by the lab.

  • Participate in any animal surgeries and procedures conducted by lab members.

  • Maintain cell lines in culture and conduct cell line-based experiments such as: WB, RT-qPCR and others.

  • Contribute to general lab-manager duties, such as keeping lab records up to date and jointly with Prof Arnim Pause manage lab's finances.

  • Perform molecular biology techniques including plasmid cloning, lentiviral construct design, and transformation/transfection for generating stable and inducible cell lines.

  • Conduct immunofluorescence, immunohistochemistry (IHC), and confocal microscopy imaging to characterize tumor and organoid phenotypes.

  • Assist with tumor and tissue processing (FFPE and frozen sections) and downstream histological analysis.

Educational Qualifications:

Possesses specialized knowledge of the field or discipline acquired through a Master’s Degree in the relevant field.


Additional Skills & Qualifications:

  • Properly trained on animal work, including handling, husbandry, and procedures sufficient to independently manage the lab's mouse colony.

  • Already familiar with the lab's core techniques and ongoing projects, allowing for a shortened onboarding/training period.

  • Experience with molecular cloning, lentiviral construct design, and generation of stable/inducible cell lines.

  • Proficient in standard cell and molecular biology techniques (western blotting, RT-qPCR, immunofluorescence/IHC).

Knowledge of French and English:

  • McGill University is an English-language university where day to day duties may require English communication both verbally and in writing.

  • The level of English required for this position has been assessed at a level #4 (qualifier) on a scale of 0-4.

This position is covered by the Association of McGill University Research Employees (AMURE) collective agreement.
