Description

Join Our LASIK & Refractive Surgery Team!

No medical background? No problem — we'll train the right person.

Are you someone who lights up a room? Do people trust you the moment you start talking to them? Are you looking for more than just a job — a real career where you learn a skill, grow with a team, and genuinely change people's lives every single day?

If that sounds like you, we want to meet you.

About the Role

We're a premiere LASIK and refractive surgery practice in Portsmouth, NH, and we're looking for a Full-Time Ophthalmic Technician to join our team. This role puts you right in the middle of the action — working hands-on with patients from their very first visit through the moment they see clearly, sometimes for the first time in their lives.

You'll learn to run diagnostic testing equipment, assist with exams, support patients before and after surgery, and become a trusted guide through one of the most exciting decisions someone can make about their vision. There's no ophthalmic technician degree program out there — this is a skill you build on the job, with us, starting from wherever you are today.

Personality Is 99% of This Job

We can teach you the equipment. We can teach you the medical terminology. We can teach you the testing protocols.

You bring the warmth, the genuine care and the instinct to make a nervous patient feel at ease.

That's what we're really hiring for.

You'll have:

  • A people-first attitude. You're friendly, positive, and genuinely enjoy helping people — whether that's on the phone, in the waiting room, or chairside during an exam.
  • Strong communication skills. You listen well, explain things clearly, and know how to put someone at ease.
  • A caring, fun energy. Patients remember how you made them feel. We want that feeling to be great.
  • Some experience in a people-facing role. Medical background is a plus, but a strong customer service background works just as well.
  • A desire to learn and grow. This is a career path, not a stopgap. We're looking for someone who wants to join a "family" of co-workers and build real, specialized skills over time.

What You'll Do (We'll Teach You How!)

  • Welcome and guide patients through diagnostic testing and exams
  • Operate ophthalmic equipment like autorefractors, slit lamps, keratometers, and tonometers
  • Support patients before and after surgery, helping them feel confident and cared for
  • Educate patients on pre- and post-operative instructions
  • Help coordinate follow-up care and keep our clinic running smoothly
  • Be a trusted, familiar face for patients from consultation all the way through their surgical journey
  • The right candidate will also be trained to assist our surgeons in surgery

Why You'll Love Working Here

  • Real career growth. Many of our team members started with zero ophthalmic experience — you'll be trained by people who genuinely want to see you succeed.
  • A tight-knit, supportive team. We're not just co-workers — we operate like family.
  • Meaningful work. Few jobs let you watch someone see clearly for the first time and know you were part of making that happen.
  • Core values that mean something: Honesty. Trust. Responsibility. Respect. And an unwavering dedication to patient care.
  • Solid benefits that include medical, dental, 401(k), vision, paid time off, and no holidays-evenings-or weekends

Sound Like You?

If you're personable, motivated, and ready to build a career where your people skills truly matter — we'd love to hear from you.

Apply today and start your journey toward a career you'll ACTUALLY love.
