Description
The National Institute of Education invites suitable applications for the position of Research Associate on an 8-month contract at the Office of Academic and Faculty Affairs.
Project Title: RS 7/25 LEL: World Englishes and GenAI: Conceptual Issues and Application Possibilities
Project Introduction: This project seeks to clarify and make the concepts of world Englishes (AI) and generative artificial intelligence (GenAI) more visible to all stakeholders in both fields, including scholars, educators and policymakers. It does so through an edited volume, entitled World Englishes and Generative Al: Conceptual Issues and Application Possibilities, which has been contracted by Routledge. This volume elucidates on how WE and GenAI are intersecting now and what are the ramifications of this intersection; suggests future possibilities of how this union may evolve and how it will impact our future as a world; provides a roadmap for educators, policymakers and developers to harness GenAI’s powerful potential responsibly in the field of WE; and synthesises current research to critically examine the conflict between technological standardisation and linguistic diversity, offering necessary guidance to mitigate standardisation risks, implement fair assessment models, ensure linguistic equity, and promote effective communication across all WE.
