What you'll do...

Role summary:
As a Manager, Sensory Science & Merchandise Experience, you’ll suport sensory and consumer research that helps Sam’s Club develop and improve products across merchandise categories. You’ll partner with Product Development, Merchandising, Quality, Consumer Insights, and suppliers to design research, analyze results, and translate Member feedback into clear product recommendations. This is a hands-on scientific role for someone who can independently manage research from business question through final recommendation.
About the team:
The Member’s Mark Consumer & Sensory Insights team integrates consumer feedback into product development through comprehensive research and sensory science. By engaging with members nationwide via the Member’s Mark Community, the team co-creates, tests, and refines products using quantitative and qualitative methods, including in-home and in-club testing. This team transforms member experiences into actionable insights that guide Product Development, Merchandising, and supplier partners. Their mission is to deeply understand members to build superior products, minimize risk, and enhance performance, supported by strong data analysis, stakeholder management, and cross-functional leadership.
What you'll do:

• Design and execute sensory and consumer research.
• Translate business questions into appropriate research designs and methodologies. 
• Independently analyze and interpret data, including statistical testing. 
• Identify drivers of product performance and provide clear recommendations for improvement. 
• Manage multiple studies simultaneously from planning through reporting. 
• Partner with cross-functional teams and suppliers to integrate Member feedback into product development. 
• Ensure research meets established scientific and quality standards. 
• Support in-home, central-location, and other sensory testing experiences. 

What you'll bring:

• Strong knowledge of sensory and consumer research methodologies. 
• Experience with experimental design, statistical analysis, and data interpretation. 
• Ability to independently manage research from design through reporting. 
• Strong product-development and problem-solving skills. 
• Ability to translate technical findings into clear business recommendations. 
• Strong collaboration and communication skills. 

Preferred Qualifications

• 4+ years of sensory science, consumer research, product research, or related experience. 
• Degree in Food Science, Sensory Science, Consumer Science, Statistics, Psychology, or related field. 
• Experience in CPG, retail, manufacturing, or product development.

The annual salary range for this position is $80,000.00 - $155,000.00 Additional compensation includes annual or quarterly performance bonuses. Additional compensation for certain positions may also include Regional Pay Zone (RPZ) (based on location).
