We are seeking a dependable and hands-on Facilities Technician to support the day-to-day maintenance, operation, and general upkeep of our facility. This is a temporary opportunity that will be based onsite in Creedmoor, NC.
The Facilities Technician will perform routine maintenance, respond to facility-related service requests, assist with repairs and preventive maintenance, and help ensure the workplace remains safe, clean, functional, and well maintained. The ideal candidate is mechanically inclined, responsive, safety-conscious, and comfortable working independently as well as with employees, contractors, and vendors.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform routine facility inspections and identify maintenance or repair needs.
- Perform general building repairs and maintenance, including minor plumbing, electrical, carpentry, painting, and hardware repairs.
- Perform preventive maintenance on building systems, equipment, fixtures, and facility assets.
- Replace light bulbs, fixtures, filters, ceiling tiles, door hardware, and other building components as needed.
- Assist with furniture assembly, office moves, workstation setup, and general space modifications.
- Maintain mechanical rooms, storage areas, maintenance spaces, and facility equipment in an organized condition.
- Coordinate with outside vendors and contractors when specialized repairs or services are required.
- Monitor contractor work and communicate facility issues or concerns to the appropriate team members.
- Assist with receiving, moving, and installing equipment, supplies, and materials.
- Support safety inspections and help identify and correct potential workplace hazards.
- Follow company safety procedures and applicable facility policies at all times.
- Respond to urgent facility issues and assist with troubleshooting building-related problems.
- Perform other facilities and maintenance duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required; technical or trade school training is a plus.
- Previous experience in facilities maintenance, building maintenance, property maintenance, or a related field preferred.
- General working knowledge of building systems and basic maintenance practices.
- Basic troubleshooting and repair skills related to plumbing, electrical, HVAC, carpentry, and general building maintenance.
- Ability to safely operate common hand tools and power tools.
- Ability to prioritize multiple maintenance requests and work with limited supervision.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to identify potential maintenance or safety concerns.
- Good communication and customer-service skills when interacting with employees, vendors, and contractors.
- Basic computer skills and ability to use email, work-order systems, and other facility-related software.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to regularly stand, walk, bend, kneel, crouch, climb, reach, and work in various positions while performing maintenance tasks.
- Ability to safely lift, carry, push, and move equipment and materials weighing up to approximately 50 pounds.
- Ability to use ladders and perform work at moderate heights when required.
- Ability to work in mechanical rooms, utility areas, indoor and outdoor environments, and other facility spaces as needed.
- Ability to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE).
Work Environment
This position is primarily performed in an office, commercial, industrial, or mixed-use facility environment. The Facilities Technician may occasionally be exposed to noise, dust, temperature changes, mechanical equipment, and other conditions associated with building maintenance activities.
Some flexibility in work hours may be required to respond to urgent maintenance needs, scheduled repairs, contractor activities, or facility projects.
