As we continue to expand our project portfolio and pursue strategic growth opportunities, we are seeking an experienced Chief Financial Officer to lead our financial strategy and operations.
Position Summary
Gurr Brothers Construction is seeking a seasoned Chief Financial Officer (CFO) to oversee all financial functions of the company, including financial planning, reporting, risk management, and strategic growth initiatives. The ideal candidate is a strategic financial leader with deep construction or capital-intensive industry experience, a proven track record in mergers and acquisitions, and the credentials and expertise to guide the company through its next phase of growth. This role may be performed on-site in Dallas, TX, or remotely for the right candidate.
Key Responsibilities
- Serve as a key member of the executive leadership team, advising the CEO and President on financial strategy, business planning, and growth initiatives.
- Lead all aspects of financial planning and analysis (FP&A), budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow management across the organization.
- Direct accounting operations, financial reporting, internal controls, and compliance with GAAP and applicable regulatory requirements.
- Lead and execute merger and acquisition (M&A) activity, including deal sourcing, due diligence, valuation, financial modeling, negotiation, and post-acquisition integration.
- Manage banking relationships, bonding/surety capacity, credit facilities, and capital structure to support project financing and company growth.
- Oversee job costing, WIP (work-in-progress) reporting, and project-level financial performance in partnership with operations and project management teams.
- Develop and maintain risk management strategies, including insurance, bonding, and tax planning.
- Build, mentor, and lead a high-performing finance and accounting team.
- Present financial results, forecasts, and strategic recommendations to ownership, the board, and other key stakeholders.
- Ensure timely and accurate financial reporting, audits, and tax filings.
Required Qualifications
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license, active and in good standing.
- Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation.
- Master of Business Administration (MBA).
- Minimum of 15 years of progressive financial leadership experience, including experience at the CFO, VP of Finance, or similar executive level.
- Demonstrated experience leading mergers and acquisitions, including deal structuring, due diligence, and integration.
- Strong knowledge of GAAP, financial reporting, and internal controls.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and executive presence, with the ability to partner effectively with ownership and cross-functional teams.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with job costing, WIP reporting, and surety/bonding relationships.
- Experience scaling finance operations within a privately held or family-owned business.
