Description

Lead Civil Draftsperson
Mohawk Council of Kahnawake (MCK) | Kahnawake, QC
Permanent, Full-Time

About the Opportunity

The Mohawk Council of Kahnawake is seeking a skilled and experienced Lead Civil Draftsperson to join its Infrastructure Division. This is a senior technical role with real influence: you will not only produce construction-ready drawings and 3D models, but shape the drafting standards, Civil 3D workflows, and CAD best practices used across all municipal infrastructure projects.

If you thrive in a technical environment where your judgment matters, your work shows up in the field, and your standards become the team's standards, this role is worth your attention.

What You Will Do

  • Produce, revise, and update 2D drawings and 3D models for municipal infrastructure using AutoCAD Civil 3D and ArcGIS, in compliance with municipal, BNQ, and MTQ standards
  • Establish and maintain internal CAD standards, file management protocols, and drawing templates across the division
  • Generate existing and proposed surfaces from survey data to develop earthwork models and accurate slope calculations
  • Draft road alignments, profiles, and cross-sections for roadway reconstruction, paving, water, sewer, and storm drainage projects
  • Prepare drainage and ditching plans, line item calculations, and tender and construction documents
  • Review survey data, field notes, and design inputs to ensure accuracy and conformity with design intent
  • Support preliminary cost estimates, as-built drawings, and record documentation
  • Collaborate with engineers, project managers, inspectors, and construction teams across the full project lifecycle
  • Conduct site visits as required to take measurements and validate information

What You Bring

  • College Diploma in Civil Engineering Technology, Drafting, or a related field
  • 3 to 8 years of relevant experience in municipal or civil infrastructure drafting and design
  • Demonstrated experience developing CAD standards, templates, and divisional workflows
  • Strong Civil 3D proficiency, with hands-on experience in pipe slopes, drainage, and roadway design
  • Ability to read and interpret survey plans, cross-sections, and technical drawings
  • Knowledge of BNQ, MTQ, and CCDG standards is a strong asset
  • Familiarity with ArcGIS and AutoTURN is an asset
  • Valid Quebec Class 5 driver's license and ASP construction card required
  • Fluency in English required; French proficiency is an asset
  • Ability to communicate in Kanien'kéha is an asset; willingness to learn is welcomed

Employment Equity

In keeping with MCK's commitment to its community, preference will be given first to applicants from the Mohawk community of Kahnawake, then to members of other Indigenous communities, and then to the general public. We strongly encourage Indigenous candidates to apply and to self-identify in their application.

Why This Role

This is a community-serving position. The infrastructure you design and document directly impacts roads, water systems, and drainage for the people of Kahnawake. You will have the autonomy to set standards, not just follow them, within a collaborative team that values quality and craftsmanship.
