Description

The ETF & Model Portfolio Specialist is a client-facing, business development role responsible for driving ETF and model portfolio adoption across financial advisors, platforms, and intermediary channels. This individual partners closely with Business Consultants and internal stakeholders to expand advisor engagement, grow assets under management (AUM), and position Manulife John Hancock Investments as a leader in ETF and model portfolio solutions.

Position Responsibilities:

Business Development & Distribution

  • Own territory-level ETF and model portfolio business development, including pipeline creation, advisor acquisition, and AUM growth.

  • Drive distribution across broker-dealers, RIAs, and strategic platforms, with a focus on expanding advisor adoption and wallet share.

  • Manage territory to hit annual ETF and Model Portfolio sales goals.

Client Engagement & Portfolio Expertise

  • Serve as a subject matter expert on ETF and model portfolio solutions, including portfolio construction, implementation, and positioning

  • Help advisors integrate ETFs and model portfolios into client portfolios, including asset allocation, blending, and use-case discussions

  • Deliver timely market insights, product updates, and practice management ideas to support advisor growth

Internal Partnership & Enablement

  • Partner closely with Business Consultants to drive coordinated territory coverage and sales outcomes

  • Deliver training and ongoing education to internal teams on ETF and model portfolio capabilities and positioning

  • Provide field feedback to product, marketing, and investment teams to enhance product development and go-to-market strategy

Data-Driven Execution

  • Utilize CRM and analytics tools to manage sales pipeline, prioritize opportunities, and measure effectiveness

  • Monitor and report on key performance indicators, including AUM growth, advisor penetration, and activity metrics

  • Leverage digital tools and virtual engagement strategies to increase scale and efficiency

Market Presence

  • Represent John Hancock Investment Management at conferences, client events, and training sessions

  • Maintain a consistent and credible presence in the ETF and model portfolio marketplace

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience required

  • Minimum 3–5 years of asset management wholesaling or related distribution experience

  • Series 7 and 66 (or 63/65) required

  • CFA or CIMA designation preferred

  • Strong understanding of ETF structure, trading dynamics, and portfolio applications preferred

  • Excellent communication and presentation skills (in-person and virtual)

  • Proven ability to manage a territory, prioritize effectively, and drive business results

  • Proficiency with CRM and sales enablement tools (e.g., Salesforce) preferred

  • Established presence in the local market preferred

Salary range is expected to be between

$125,000.00 USD - $216,700.00 USD

Employees also have the opportunity to participate in incentive programs and earn incentive compensation tied to business and individual performance. The actual salary will vary depending on local market conditions, geography and relevant job-related factors such as knowledge, skills, qualifications, experience, and education/training.
