The Pennsylvania State University Altoona College invites applications for Teaching Faculty appointments to non-tenure track positions in Mechanical Engineering, beginning in Fall 2027 or when agreed upon. The successful candidates will be expected to teach a variety of undergraduate courses in support of the Mechanical Engineering program, advise and mentor undergraduate students, and participate in all aspects of the program’s activities, including service to the program, division, university, community, and profession. The Altoona ME program is specifically seeking candidates able to teach computational tools, vibrations in mechanical systems, modeling of dynamic systems, product design and manufacturing processes, properties and processes of engineering materials, circuit analysis, instrumentation, and statistics, and mechanical engineering design methodology. Successful candidates will be willing to work collaboratively with a faculty dedicated to ensuring the highest quality education for Altoona students while also encouraging individual growth, cultural awareness, ethical decision-making, and civic responsibility. Enthusiasm for learning and a willingness to continually develop as a teacher are critical. The positions will be filled at the rank of Instructor or Assistant Teaching Professor depending on education and experience. The positions are for one-year appointments with excellent possibility of renewal.

Candidates must have at least an M.S. degree in mechanical engineering or a closely related field by the time of the appointment. Candidates should have excellent communication skills and a strong commitment to undergraduate education, curricular development, and assessment. Candidates with prior teaching and/or relevant industrial experience are preferred.
