Maintenance Machinist

 As part of our ongoing growth and expansion, we are seeking a dynamic and experienced Maintenance Machinist to assist Lynker in supporting the National Data Buoy Center,(NDBC) to provide quality meteorological and oceanographic observations in the marine environment to support predictions of changes in ocean and coastal weather to enhance Maritime Safety.  NDBC designs, engineers, fabricates/integrates, tests, deploys, maintains/repairs for worldwide buoy systems including Weather Buoy Stations, Coastal Observation (C-MAN) stations, Tropical Atmosphere-Ocean Array (TAO) systems, and Deep-Ocean Assessment and Reporting of Tsunami (DART) stations.  The program also performs data analysis/storage/dissemination (via website/other means) of related weather and environmental data from these systems (25%) and other sources (75%) of in-situ weatherming​ data, Logistics, Information Technology/Data Administration, and Program

Responsibilities

 

Duties of the Maintenance Machinist will include the following:

 

• Advanced knowledge and experience in CNC Machine Setup, programming, operation, and machining process optimization.
• Ability to setup, program and fully operate the OMAX Waterjet Cutter and create programs using OMAX Layout software.
• Proficiently operate a variety of manual machine shop equipment by working with both metallic and non-metallic materials.
• Welding
• Perform machinery repairs and maintenance as required.
• Work independently with minimal supervision.
• Estimate and procure necessary equipment, tooling and materials for various task or projects
• Collaborate with engineering teams to develop and improve machining processes.
• Interpret and work from finished drawings to complete assigned tasking.
• Occasionally support Mechanical assembly work at the industrial facility on site NDBC to support field service mission preparations
• May be assigned occasional field assignments performing, installation, troubleshooting, repair and de-installation of NDBC Systems which involves: Traveling and performing duties on land/at sea in remote locations with potentially harsh weather environments as needed.
• Mechanical assembly work at remote station locations of the NDBC network in support of all operational missions and programs (Weather Buoy, DART TAO and C-Man).
• Knowledge of computer skills (Microsoft Office and Google) for communication and completion of test and field related documentation. Other duties as assigned.
• Good communication skills and the ability to represent NDBC/Lynker in the field.

 

Qualifications

 

The Maintenance Machinist selected should have the following:

• Education: High School, with vocational-tech school diploma in mechanical fields(s)
• 2+ years of experience in performing duties in a Machine Shop environment to include but not limited to execution of detailed setups, G&M code programming and process trouble shooting in regards to CNC Machines, OMAX Waterjet, and machining/manufacturing metallic and non-metallic materials.
• Must be able to pass NOAA background check and obtain a Common Access Card, TWIC Card, and US Passport.
