Job Title: Remote Permit Technician (100% Work From Home)

Salary: $2,600 USD/month
  
Schedule: Monday – Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM US Pacific Time / PT.

 

 
Position Overview:
 
Our Client is a premier residential construction and homebuilding enterprise dedicated to delivering high-quality residential communities and custom developments. Operating within a fast-paced pre-construction environment, our client emphasizes process discipline, strict timeline adherence, and cross-functional accountability across sales, design, purchasing, and field operations teams. Guided by a culture of accountability, operational grit, and continuous workflow optimization, our client ensures seamless pre-construction management from initial project setup through final permit issuance.
 
The Role
 
Our Client is seeking a detail-oriented, proactive Permit Technician to manage end-to-end permitting and pre-construction document workflows across multiple municipal jurisdictions. Reporting directly to the Purchasing Manager, this professional will prepare permit application packages, submit plan sets, track revision pipelines, liaise with local building officials, and hold internal stakeholders accountable to critical pre-construction schedules.
 
Key Responsibilities
 

Permit Package Preparation & Municipal Submission

 
  • Prepares, packages, and submits comprehensive plan sets, site plans, deeds, utility applications, and color selections for municipal permit approval across various markets.

  • Tracks plan check comments, resolves jurisdictional revisions, manages permit fee payments, and secures final permit issuances in alignment with production schedules.

  • Assembles complete permit handoff packages and transitions ownership to field production teams upon permit approval.

  • Fosters positive, professional working relationships with local municipal jurisdictions, building departments, and utility providers to streamline approval timelines.

 

Pre-Construction Coordination & Stakeholder Accountability

 
  • Coordinates with internal teams across Operations, Purchasing, Land Development, Design, Sales, and Accounting to gather required pre-construction documentation.

  • Proactively monitors upcoming deadlines, identifies potential jurisdictional delays, and holds internal stakeholders accountable for delivering required assets on schedule.

  • Facilitates, organizes, and manages the weekly cross-functional "Sales & Production" (S&P) coordination meeting.

  • Assists the purchasing division with Requests for Information (RFIs), bid reviews, and subcontractor communications as needed.

 

Document Control, ERP Data Entry & Reporting

 
  • Manages the paperless digital document management system, maintaining job folders, pre-construction start packages, site plans, and municipal records.

  • Enters and maintains accurate project data within the enterprise resource planning (ERP) system, including property addresses, permit numbers, and temporary power records.

  • Compiles, manages, and reports on permitting metrics to provide executive leadership with key performance indicators and operational visibility.

  • Coordinates monthly administrative procurement tasks, including ordering address plaques and supporting special operational projects.

  

Qualifications, Skills, and Key Competencies
 
Required Qualifications
 
  • Permitting & Construction Background: Direct prior experience in construction coordination, municipal permitting, project administration, or land development.

  • Multi-Jurisdictional Navigation: Proven capacity to learn, adapt to, and navigate varying local building department requirements, code enforcement protocols, and permit portals.

  • Tech Literacy & ERP Experience: Experience working with digital document management platforms, ERP platforms, calendaring software, and Microsoft Office tools (intermediate to advanced proficiency).

  • Communication & Assertiveness: Excellent written and verbal English communication skills with the confidence to manage project deadlines, address bottlenecks, and communicate assertively with stakeholders.

  • Organized & Detail-Oriented: Exceptional organizational skills with a detail-driven mindset capable of managing concurrent permit packages accurately in a paperless environment.

  • Schedule Alignment: Full availability to work standard US Pacific business hours (Monday – Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM PT).

  • Remote Infrastructure: Dedicated, quiet workspace equipped with a high-performance computer, reliable backup systems, and a high-speed internet connection.

 

 Preferred Qualifications

 

  • Familiarity with US residential construction methodologies, building trades, or single-family housing developments.

  • Experience facilitating cross-functional team meetings or coordinating interdepartmental pre-construction workflows.
