HospiceOverview of Position:
This position is responsible for orientation, training and coordinating of all hospice volunteers, and for volunteer program administration and development in all service areas. The individual will also coordinate activities with hospital volunteer staff as needed. The incumbent will also develop, oversee, and implement hospice public relations and marketing to support Genesis Hospice and Palliative care.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
1. Develops and maintains a system for tracking all volunteer activities.
2. Communicates effectively with volunteers in working with patient population including neo-natal, pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric.
3. Develops and implements an effective program for recruiting, training, selecting, and retaining volunteers.
4. Maintains appropriate file information for current volunteers, including contact information, and completes an annual evaluation for each volunteer according to program policy.
5. Participates in fund raising, planning, utilization and supervision of volunteers.
6. Monitors and assesses the availability versus need of volunteers on an ongoing basis.
7. Provides educational opportunities/tools for volunteers who are employed in direct care and indirect care.
8. Coordinates activities with system volunteer department staff.
9. Attends weekly team meetings and provides updates on volunteer involvement with patients and families.
10. Develops and implements marketing/public relations communication plans and projects in collaboration with corporate communications as appropriate to support Genesis Hospice and Palliative Care.
11. Provides guidance and recommendations to hospice leadership for the most effective marketing and public relations communication approaches.
12. Maintains project records and monitors project budgets.
13. Completes marketing/public relations and communications projects as assigned.
14. Continues to market and focus on current active programs.
15. Provides educational opportunities to our community and our hospital system.
16. Maintains competency for hospice regulations and requirements.
QUALIFICATIONS
1. Associate’s degree required or equivalent related 3 years of hospice experience required.
2. Valid Ohio driver’s license.
3. Proof of auto liability insurance.
4. Excellent interpersonal, decision-making, facilitation, conflict resolutions and investigative skills.
5. Must be self-directed with ability to work independently.
6. Excellent customer service skills.
7. Must have good computer skills with experience using Microsoft Office.
