The appointee will work for the Materials, Design and Manufacturing Facility (MDMF) (CWB) that focuses on the support of teaching and learning activities, academic research and industrial collaboration projects. The appointee is working with our Design and Fabrication Unit (DFU). DFU aims to enable research excellence, innovation, and education by providing integrated engineering design, prototyping, fabrication, testing, and technical consultancy services that transform ideas into functional solutions. DFU offers engineering design and fabrication services of mechanical /electrical / electronic / controller / interdisciplinary engineering, partnering with users to achieve high-quality project goals.

The appointee helps out with development from simple concept sketch to a working model and system. He/She is responsible to create, build, set up and deliver parts and equipment to fulfill user needs.  He/She also assists DFU Head in coordinating the activities with stakeholders in alignment with MDMF(CWB)'s missions and goals.

Applicants should have a bachelor’s degree / associate degree / higher diploma in mechanical / electronics / electrical engineering; for associate degree / higher diploma holders, they should also possess at least 2 years of post-qualification experience, preferably in an engineering workshop environment / technical support unit in tertiary education institutions.  Good command of written and spoken English and Chinese is required, preferably with fluency in Putonghua.  The successful candidate is expected to have good customer service mindset and strong problem-solving skills.

Preference will be given to those who have specialized training / experience in a technical support and/or engineering workshop environment; design of mechanical / electronics parts and equipment; 3D printing; laser cutting; CAM programming and CNC operations; CAD modeling; computer aided engineering analysis by CAE tools; development of micro-controller, PLC and single-chip computer and their programming. (Duration: 2 years, renewable)

Starting salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.  Fringe benefits including annual leave, medical and dental benefits will be provided.  A gratuity will be payable upon successful completion of contract.
