About the Role:
SS&C Algorithmics, a division of SS&C Technologies, is seeking an experienced and highly motivated Financial Engineer to join our Financial Engineering team. As a member of the Financial Engineering Group, you will participate in specification, research, and development of new product features relating to Financial Analytics and Risk Management. You will provide guidance and support to clients and field office colleagues. You will be involved in solving challenging problems in many diverse areas of Financial Engineering and Mathematical Finance, e.g.:
- Quantitative analysis on pricing, validation and risk management.
- Scenario generation
- Market Risk, Credit Risk, Liquidity Risk, ALM, Regulatory Requirement, Climate Risk
- Alternative assets valuation and risk modeling
Your success will be based on ability to work with the Financial Engineering colleagues and collaborate with Research, Validation and Development teams to provide solution specifications across a wide spectrum of risk-related topics.
SS&C Algorithmics has more than 200 Clients globally, operates in 25 countries and has a team of people who design, develop, sell and support risk analytics solutions for financial institutions. SS&C Algorithmics is headquartered in Toronto, Ontario. Candidates must be able to commute to an office and be willing to work in the office and be able to meet the in-office requirements.
What You Will Get To Do:
- Research and design financial/technical specifications of complex new product features.
- Create prototypes to test and validate ideas, models and solution designs.
- Investigate, consult and understand new market functionalities, client requirements and risk methodologies (pricing, simulation, valuation and optimization).
- Use AI knowledge, skills, and tools to support and streamline the entire process.
- Provide authoritative advice, product expertise and models to support sales efforts, clients and services teams.
- Produce whitepapers and represent the organizations to deliver presentations at conferences and to potential clients.
- Collaborate with other teams (Research, Validation, Development, Services, Pre-sales and Sales).
- Resolve conflicting methodology viewpoints among different parties (e.g. clients specific requirement vs industry best practices or Algorithmics outputs vs. client front office systems).
What You Will Bring:
- Solid mathematical and statistical background (Probability, Statistics, Stochastic Processes, Financial Mathematics, Linear Algebra, Optimization). Advanced degree in Risk Management, Mathematics, Computer Science, Mathematical Finance, or equivalent.
- Excellent analysis and problem-solving skills. Ability to abstract and formalize problems and attention to detail.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, with experience transferring knowledge to team members, delivering presentations, writing white papers, and communicating with clients. Able to clearly present and publish complex solutions in an easy-to-understand manner.
- Experience with Python, MATLAB, and Visual Basic/Excel, along with exposure to AI tools, techniques, and Claude Code (or equivalent). Proficiency in R and C++ in a Linux environment is an asset.
- Creativity together with discipline, ability to work independently and as a part of a team.
- Minimum 5+ years of experience in a related field. Working experience in software development and/or financial industries is certainly an asset.
- Experience and skill in our Algorithmics software (RiskWatch, ASE, AWA etc.) will be a big plus.
- Regional language skills and proficiency in multiple languages would be an asset.

Salary Range: $140,000 to $180,000 CAD
