ROLE SUMMARY
Pfizer US Medical Affairs is reimagining how scientific information is delivered, discovered, and amplified in an increasingly digital and AI-mediated healthcare environment. As healthcare professionals engage with scientific content across a growing ecosystem of digital, social, search, field, and AI-enabled experiences, Medical Affairs must evolve from channel-centric execution to intelligent, orchestrated engagement.
The Senior Director, Digital Medical Strategy & Orchestration will define and operationalize the strategic engagement model that connects medical priorities, audience intelligence, content, channels, data, and compliant technology into a coordinated and measurable engagement ecosystem. This leader will establish the frameworks, governance, capabilities, and partnerships required to enable precision scientific engagement at scale—ensuring healthcare professionals receive the right information, through the right experience, at the right moment.
As a key architect of Pfizer's future digital medical engagement capabilities, this role will help shape how Medical Affairs leverages AI-enabled orchestration, advanced analytics, and emerging engagement channels to drive greater relevance, efficiency, and medical impact while upholding the highest standards of scientific integrity, compliance, and patient-centered purpose.
The Senior Director, Digital Medical Strategy & Orchestration is accountable for defining, enabling, and continuously evolving the US Medical Affairs digital engagement strategy and orchestration model across Oncology, Internal Medicine, Specialty Care, and Vaccines & Antivirals. Reporting to the Medical Channel Strategy and Engagement Lead, this leader will establish the strategic frameworks, governance, capabilities, and partnerships that connect medical priorities, audience intelligence, content, digital channels, data, and compliant technology into a coordinated, measurable, and scalable digital engagement ecosystem. In close partnership with the Chief Marketing Office and other enterprise engagement stakeholders, the role will ensure Medical Affairs digital engagement strategies are complementary to broader customer engagement efforts while maintaining clear scientific, regulatory, and compliance standards.
As healthcare professionals increasingly discover and consume scientific information through digital, search, social, and AI-enabled experiences, this role will serve as a key architect of Pfizer's future digital medical engagement capabilities. The leader will drive the transition from channel-centric execution to intelligent, audience-centric orchestration—ensuring healthcare professionals receive the right scientific content, through the right digital engagement experience, at the right moment. Through the design of orchestration frameworks, governance models, decisioning capabilities, and performance measurement approaches, this role will help establish the foundation for precision digital scientific engagement at scale.
This is a senior individual-contributor leadership role requiring enterprise influence, executive-level judgment, and the ability to mobilize stakeholders across Medical Affairs, the Chief Medical Office, the Chief Marketing Office, Digital, Analytics, Legal, Compliance, Privacy, Regulatory, agency, and third-party platform partners. The role is expected to shape enterprise priorities related to engagement strategy, orchestration, governance, measurement, innovation, and emerging AI-enabled capabilities while safeguarding Pfizer's license to operate and driving greater medical impact across the US portfolio
ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES
• Define and lead the US Medical Affairs Digital Medical Strategy & Orchestration capability and inform global digital engagement capabilities with international teams. Establish the vision, operating model, engagement frameworks, and best practices that enable coordinated, scalable, and measurable digital medical engagement across Pfizer's priority therapy areas, assets, and customer segments.
• Design and orchestrate integrated HCP medical engagement journeys. Develop engagement strategies that coordinate digital and live engagement experiences across priority therapy areas and assets, ensuring healthcare professionals receive relevant scientific information through connected and complementary touchpoints throughout key medical moments and along the medical journey.
• Translate therapeutic area and asset strategies into orchestrated engagement solutions. Partner with Category Medical Teams, the Chief Medical Office, Field Medical, Publications, Medical Communications, and other stakeholders to develop integrated engagement approaches that support scientific exchange, evidence dissemination, education, and customer experience objectives.
• Establish scalable orchestration frameworks and implementation models. Develop and operationalize engagement orchestration frameworks, implementation approaches, and best practices that enable coordinated HCP experiences across digital and live channels while aligning with Medical Affairs governance, regulatory requirements, and enterprise standards.
• Enable AI-powered and data-driven engagement orchestration. Guide the responsible application of audience intelligence, analytics, decision-support capabilities, automation, and emerging AI-enabled technologies to improve engagement relevance, enhance customer experiences, and increase Medical Affairs impact.
• Identify and address engagement orchestration risks. Partner with Medical Affairs governance, Legal, Compliance, Privacy, Regulatory, Digital, and Analytics stakeholders to proactively identify and mitigate risks associated with emerging channels, AI-enabled engagement approaches, data use, and evolving HCP engagement models, helping ensure compliant and responsible execution across priority therapy areas. This language preserves governance ownership elsewhere while making this role accountable for risk anticipation and mitigation.
• Shape cross-functional solutions across US and International Medical Affairs. Influence and align stakeholders across US Medical Affairs, International Medical Affairs, Category Teams, Digital, Analytics, Legal, Compliance, Regulatory, and external partners to establish scalable engagement solutions, shared implementation approaches, and enterprise-wide best practices.
• Define measurement strategies and optimize engagement performance. Establish measurement frameworks and success metrics for digital medical engagement, partnering with Medical Analytics to assess engagement effectiveness, customer experience, content performance, channel contribution, and medical impact, while continuously improving strategy through data-driven insights.
• Drive innovation and future engagement readiness. Monitor evolving HCP information-seeking behaviors, scientific content consumption patterns, emerging platforms, and AI-enabled engagement trends to identify opportunities that strengthen Pfizer's digital medical engagement capabilities and future readiness.
• Lead strategic agency, platform, and ecosystem partnerships. Guide the evaluation, management, and optimization of agencies, technology providers, engagement platforms, and strategic partners to ensure external capabilities support therapy-area priorities, engagement objectives, and long-term capability development.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
Candidate demonstrates a breadth of diverse leadership experiences and capabilities including: the ability to influence and collaborate with peers, develop and coach others, oversee and guide the work of other colleagues to achieve meaningful outcomes and create business impact.
- Advanced scientific degree (PharmD, PhD, MD, or equivalent) required.
- 10+ years of pharmaceutical, Medical Affairs, scientific communications, digital engagement, healthcare media, or related healthcare industry experience, including demonstrated leadership of enterprise-scale initiatives.
- Demonstrated success leading enterprise-scale, cross-functional initiatives that require influence across senior stakeholders without direct authority.
- Demonstrated experience establishing enterprise capabilities, operating models, frameworks, or scalable solutions across complex matrix organizations.
- Deep understanding of US Medical Affairs, the healthcare environment, scientific communications, external HCP engagement, and compliant dissemination of medical information.
- Experience designing or enabling orchestrated HCP engagement models, omnichannel strategies, customer journeys, or cross-channel engagement ecosystems that connect digital, live, field, owned, earned, paid, and third-party engagement channels.
- Working knowledge of AI-enabled engagement, generative and agentic search, LLM-mediated discovery, and the implications for HCP access to scientific information.
- Strong judgment in regulatory, privacy, data-use, compliance, and medical governance considerations related to digital and external engagement.
- Experience translating analytics and performance insights into actionable channel strategy, optimization decisions, and senior-level performance narratives.
- Proven ability to manage agency, media, technology, or platform partners in support of Medical Affairs objectives.
- Exceptional executive presence, strategic communication, prioritization, and decision-framing skills.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- 12+ years of pharmaceutical or healthcare experience, including meaningful experience in Medical Affairs, scientific publications, medical communications, medical media, or digital medical engagement.
- Experience standing up Medical-only or Medical-specific channel ecosystems, operating models, governance frameworks, or third-party platform partnerships.
- Hands-on experience with AI-enabled orchestration, marketing/medical automation, omnichannel decisioning, content supply chain, or audience strategy capabilities.
- Therapeutic-area experience in oncology, specialty care, internal medicine, vaccines, or antiviral areas.
- Experience operating in global/regional medical environments and navigating variations in legal, regulatory, and compliance standards.

The annual base salary for this position ranges from $214,900.00 to $358,100.00. In addition, this position is eligible for participation in Pfizer’s Global Performance Plan with a bonus target of 22.5% of the base salary and eligibility to participate in our share based long term incentive program.
