SCOPE OF POSITION 

Neurodiagnostic services encompass all technical functions with the Electroencephalography (EEG), Electromyography (EMG), Autonomics, Epilepsy Monitoring Unit (EMU), and Evoked Potential (EP). The laboratories are diagnostic areas of the Department of Neurology for patients with suspected neurologic injury and/or disease.  The EMU is the in-patient diagnostic area for patients with suspected epilepsy.  The EEG laboratory is staffed Monday through Friday 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. with 24 hour, 7 day per week on-call service. The EMG laboratory is staffed Monday through Friday 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. EMU is staffed 24 hours per day, 7 days per week.

POSITION SUMMARY 

Under the medical direction of a physician and under the direct or general supervision of manager and/or the lead END technologist, the technologist performs a wide variety of electroneurodiagnostic procedures on patients with suspected neurologic injury and disease and monitors patients for seizure or other neurological disorders. The technologist is responsible for preparation of the patient for testing and the collection of computerized information pertinent to the interpretation of the test results in EEG, EMG, EMU, and Evoked Potentials.

Minimum Qualifications 

For Hire:      Recommended one of the following:

  • One year healthcare experience
  • Minimum of one year Neurodiagnostic experience
  • Minimum of an Associates degree
  • Associates Degree in END Technology
  • RPSGT Certificate
