CSCI Consulting is seeking a highly motivated Accountant / Financial Management Analyst to support critical financial management operations for a DoD client at Fort Bragg, North Carolina. This position offers the unique opportunity to apply your accounting, budget, and resource management expertise in support of some of the nation's most important defense missions.

The accountant will provide accounting and financial management support within a dynamic Department of Defense environment. The successful candidate will leverage their expertise in federal accounting, resource management, and financial systems to identify discrepancies, resolve complex transactions, and strengthen the accuracy and integrity of financial data.

This role requires close coordination with government personnel, budget analysts, program action officers, and external organizations to ensure timely and accurate financial execution.

Responsibilities

  • Research, analyze, and resolve unmatched transactions and accounting discrepancies
  • Investigate and clear IDoc failures within GFEBS-SA and related financial systems
  • Review, reconcile, and adjust commitment and obligation balances to ensure financial accuracy
  • Analyze Unliquidated Obligations (ULOs) and recommend corrective actions and adjustments
  • Support month-end and year-end accounting activities and financial reconciliations
  • Identify root causes of financial processing errors and recommend process improvements
  • Partner with Budget Analysts, Resource Managers, and Program Action Officers to resolve financial issues and improve execution
  • Coordinate with external stakeholders 
  • Support audits, financial reviews, and compliance initiatives

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field or a minimum of eight (8) years of relevant professional experience in accounting, financial management, budget execution, resource management, or related discipline
  • Active Secret Clearance required (TS/SCI preferred)
  • Demonstrated experience supporting Department of War financial management, budgeting, or resource management activities.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced mission environment
  • Working knowledge of federal accounting principles, commitment accounting, obligations management, and fiscal law concepts
  • Creativity and adaptability in problem-solving
  • Ability to work with clients to understand their needs
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Professional presence

 

Preferred Skills

  • Experience with GFEBS or GFEBS-SA
  • Prior experience supporting U.S. Army financial management or resource management operations
  • Experience resolving accounting discrepancies, unmatched transactions, and ULO reviews
  • Ability to work in a team environment, as well as independently
  • Strong customer and vendor relationship skills
  • Demonstrated ability to comply with data standards and policies
  • Motivation to learn new technologies and methodologies that demonstrate value
