Summary
As the Sr Analyst - Restructuring, working in collaboration with and in support of the firm’s strategic initiatives, you will support the Firm by using your experience with corporate distressed debt, high yield credit, and/or restructuring/special situations to play an integral role in supporting our rapidly growing Restructuring Practice. DLA Piper’s Restructuring Practice is recognized as one of the elite global practices for its capabilities and innovative counsel in representing companies, secured and unsecured creditors, creditor committees, institutional and distressed investors and other parties in workouts, restructurings, and bankruptcies from middle market businesses to large global corporates.
You will coordinate directly with Restructuring Partners to identify and monitor market opportunities including creditor and debtor-side restructurings and stressed/distressed acquisition and investment opportunities. You will research, analyze, summarize, and present findings to leadership and proactively monitor and cultivate a portfolio of potential targets.
As part of a broader market and business intelligence team, you will play a vital role in driving DLA Piper’s growth by analyzing data, identifying opportunities, and contributing to high priority strategic growth initiatives.

This position can sit in our New York or Chicago office and offers a hybrid work schedule.
Responsibilities
• Identify, research, analyze, monitor, and report on market opportunities for the Restructuring Practice Group. Develop client pursuit opportunities and targeting lists.
• Conduct research and keep up to date on the macro and micro-economic developments across distressed industries to inform targeting efforts.
• Develop and maintain updated tracking tools and models leveraging internal and external data to support targeting and pursuit opportunities.
• Design tailored research and analysis for various restructuring partners; determine the most appropriate and efficient methodology to source and compile quantitative and qualitative data.
• Build financial and statistical models; analyze and interpret insights gained from models to strategize potential commercial opportunities for clients and the Firm.
• Proactively monitor news cycles, SEC filings, digital resource platforms, and other sources of information on an ongoing basis against a target list to identify changes, flag indicators of stressed/distressed situations, and enable the Firm’s restructuring partners to capitalize on opportunities as they arise.
• Collaborate with members of the business development team to obtain an understanding of the Firm’s partners, clients and prospects, matters, competitors, and other factors that could influence the direction of research and monitoring efforts.
• Identify and implement improvements to data retrieval, accuracy, and delivery.
• Assist in leading and coordinating bi-weekly meetings with restructuring leadership and business development team to review targets and provide material updates.
Desired Skills
Demonstrated ability to work in a fluid environment with time-sensitive deadlines and manage multiple projects simultaneously. Strong financial modeling, analytical, and problem-solving skills. Excellent written and oral communication skills. Advanced MS Excel, PowerPoint, and Word skills. Proficiency with Bloomberg, Octus, CreditRiskMonitor Debtwire, Capital IQ. Familiarity with or ability to quickly learn Co-Pilot, Claude, PowerBi.
Minimum Education
Bachelor's Degree in finance, economics, accounting or business administration, or quantitative fields such as statistics, mathematics, or engineering.
Preferred Education
Master's Degree in Business Administration (MBA).'
Minimum Years of Experience
6 years of experience in related analytical experience in finance, restructuring or distressed debt analysis is desired.

Physical Demands

Work Environment

The firm’s expected hiring range for this position is $110,866 - $153,578 per year depending on the candidate’s geographic market location.
The compensation offered for employment will also be dependent on other factors including the candidate’s experience, skills, educational and professional background, and overall qualifications. We offer a comprehensive package of benefits including medical/dental/vision insurance, and 401(k).
