As a Lead Sterile Processing Technician, you will provide leadership and expertise to the Central Sterile staff and maintaining responsibility for day-to-day tasks of Infection Control, Employee Health, and Quality Analysis.
In this role, you will perform infectious disease surveillance, monitor sepsis, and ensure compliance with regulatory standards as you work with clinical and medical staff to address infection control issues.
You will collect data, analyze and report infection prevention and employee health and maintain a database of critical department information – and while ensuring confidentiality and presenting meaningful reports to staff and leadership.
ACCOUNTABILITIES
Provide assistance and guidance to other department employees with sterilization processes.
Assists in orientation of new staff regarding policies, procedures, methods, national standards, and management of sterilization processes.
Cleans, inspects, assembles, wraps, and disinfects or sterilizes all reusable items. Identifies and counts all instruments accurately. Prepares all instruments to ensure they are cleaned, inspected, assembled, wrapped, and sterilized according to appropriate practice standards.
Adheres to cleaning and equipment cleaning schedule.
Uses aseptic procedures and complies with appropriate policies in performing Central Sterile (CS) duties.
Runs and maintains the Steris system according to standards and manufacturer’s operational procedures.
Handles contaminated items using proper infection control procedures.
Cleans and disinfects/sterilizes endoscopes according to manufacturer’s instructions.
Appropriately and consistently uses proper personal protective equipment while performing duties.
Performs all related duties as requested or required. Other duties as assigned.

REQUIREMENTS
Education: High School Diploma
Years of Experience: Minimum 2 years’ experience as a central sterile technician.
Certification: Must be Certified as a Central Sterile Technician. CPR Certification
