Legends Global, the leader in privately managed public assembly facilities, has an excellent and immediate opening for an Assistant Director of Event Services at Reliant Park in Houston, Texas. Reliant Park is in the fast lane for opportunity and excitement. We are a one-of-a-kind premier facility with four major venues within one giant park. Reliant Center (one million+ sq. ft. Convention Center), Reliant Stadium (home of the Houston Texans and The Houston Livestock Show & Rodeo), Reliant Astrodome (“The” Astrodome), and Reliant Arena. We are seeking a unique Assistant Director of Event Services to join our Event Services team. Under general supervision, the Assistant Director of Event Services controls and monitors the customer contact aspect and front-of-house division of the facility. Plans, monitors, directs, and manages the event coordination, security, crowd control, exhibitor services, outside contractor service functions, and enforces fire marshal regulations. Acts as liaison between the facility and clients, ensuring all clients’ requirements are met and facility rules, regulations and policies are adhered to.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Include the following:
Provide high level leadership to the Event Services team to include Event Management, Guest Experience and Exhibitor Services to ensure the proficient, accurate and timely delivery of services and planning of events.
Assist in the preparation, maintenance and adherence of the annual operating and event expense budgets.
Implement and enforce facility rules, regulations, policies and procedures for all department related activities.
Contribute to assigned projects such as large event bid specifications, facility upgrades related to event experience and departmental upgrades.
Assist the Director of Event Services in the preparation, administration and validation of department documents.
Assist with vendor contract adherence for all third-party contractors reporting to the Director
Participate in the preparation of bid specifications and attend bid meetings.
Provide support for all roles within the Event Services team to include Guest Experience support, Command Post, Service Desks, filling in as Event Manager, etc. as needed.
Assign online corporate training which develops high level output in the fields of customer service, event logistics, safety, financial reporting, etc.
Ensure successful event coordination activities by hiring, supervising and training Event Coordinators and Managers.
Assigns training duties to Senior team members.
Plan, organize, and manage large-scale, full-property events at Reliant Park.
Liaise directly with the Sales department to assign events and ensure Event Estimates are being published according to predetermined timelines.
Act as point of contact to the Marketing Department for event engagement and client development.
Lead bi-weekly operational and management meetings with applicable department leadership.
Research, review and recommend equipment, materials and supplies required in providing event services and planning.
Maintain high level relationships with both the Houston Texans and the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo in support of both their seasons.
Maintain the proper image and generate positive public relations with artists, clients, exhibitors, patrons and staff.
Assist Exhibitor Services with management of the online ordering system, contractor relationships, exhibitor needs, and revenue generation
Support the Guest Experience team with event preparation, service recovery, and customer service training.
Make immediate decisions and communicate with all users of the facility in an emergency based on previous training.
Serves as Manager on Duty (MOD) as required.
Attend tenant and stakeholder meetings, industry events and conferences.
Work extended/irregular hours including nights, weekends and holidays, as needed.
May perform other duties as assigned.
Supervisory Responsibilities
Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with all policies and applicable laws.
Ensure all corporate business practices are being adhered to.
In partnership with Human Resources, interview, hire, and train employees.
Responsibilities also include planning, assigning, directing work, appraising performance, rewarding and disciplining employees, addressing complaints and conflict resolution.

Education and/or Experience
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited four-year college or university and seven (7) years related experience and/or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Knowledge of public assembly facility management, customer services practices and exhibitor services practices is a plus.
Skills and Abilities
Good written, verbal and computer skills.

Remain flexible and adjust to situations as they occur.
Work in a fast-paced environment.
Computer Skills
Operate a personal computer using Outlook, Windows, Word, Excel, Adobe Acrobat, and other standard office equipment.
Auto CAD, File Maker, and Adobe Illustrator are a plus.
Other Qualifications
Be licensed to operate a motor vehicle in the United States.
