Job Description:
We are seeking a detail-oriented accounting professional to support a variety of general accounting and financial analysis functions. This role is responsible for preparing, maintaining, and reconciling financial records, ensuring the accuracy and integrity of accounting transactions, and providing financial reporting and budgeting support. The ideal candidate will have strong analytical capabilities, be comfortable working with large datasets, and possess a solid understanding of accounting principles and financial processes.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare, maintain, and reconcile general ledger accounts and financial records.
- Assist with the preparation of financial statements, including:
- Balance sheets
- Knowledge of profit and loss statements
- Prepare, analyze, record, and report accounting transactions.
- Ensure accounting records are complete, accurate, and compliant with accepted accounting policies and principles.
- Support financial planning activities such as Variance Analysis
- Analyze and prepare statutory accounts, financial statements, and financial reports.
- Participate in and document accounting-related projects and process improvements.
- Consolidate, analyze, and interpret financial data to support business decision-making.
- Resolve routine accounting issues by applying established policies, procedures, and accounting principles.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders and share financial information with team members as needed.
- Contribute to the quality and accuracy of team deliverables while continuing to develop accounting knowledge and expertise.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Working knowledge of accounting principles, practices, and procedures.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Access.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to quickly consolidate, organize, and analyze large volumes of data.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.
- Experience working with large datasets and data analysis tools.
- Ability to manage routine assignments and seek guidance when needed.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in general accounting, financial reporting, or financial analysis.
- Familiarity with variance analysis and financial performance reporting.
- Exposure to statutory reporting requirements and financial statement preparation.
- Experience documenting business processes, controls, or accounting projects.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including PivotTables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, and financial modeling.
- Prior experience mentoring, training, or serving in a "player-coach" capacity.
Additional Information
- Schedule: Monday through Friday
- Work Hours: Flexible start time between 7:00 AM and 9:00 AM ET (40-hour work week)
- Location Requirement: Candidate must reside within the region of the position or be willing to self-relocate (Louisville, KY).
