Overview

Perform supervisory duties and coordinate daily activities in the Diagnostic Radiology, CT, Ultrasound and MRI Departments.  Oversee and coordinate technologist assistants across all modalities.  Work collaboratively with other departments to ensure excellent patient care.  Supervise the Inpatient Quality Assurance, JCAHO, ACR and IEMA programs.  Monitor operations and quality standards to assure compliance with governmental regulations and meet standards established by accrediting agencies. Oversee the inventory and billing processes. Provide oversight and supervision of scheduling of Colleagues, Time keeping, and annual colleague competencies and appraisals.

 

Schedule

Full Time, Day Shift

8:00am-4:30pm

Weekends as Needed 

Qualifications

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in an associated field. (If not achieved prior to acceptance of role, must be actively pursuing and completed within 3yrs of acceptance)

 

Licensure/Certification/Registry:

  • Registered radiographer (ARRT-R) in good standing required.
  • Active license required in radiography from the Illinois Department of Nuclear Safety.
  • Maintain BLS CPR Certification.

 

Experience:

  • Five (5) years’ experience as Medical Imaging Technologist with documented skill advancement in the workplace.

 

Other Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

  • Excellent interpersonal, educational and guest relations skills required.
  • Adaptability to ongoing technological changes.

Responsibilities

Supervisory Responsibilities

  • Foster an environment which promotes autonomy, accountability, and teamwork.
  • Provide direction, guidance and leadership to subordinates, such as coaching and counseling when needed.
  • Schedule personnel to assure quality patient care within budget requirements and workload demands.
  • Complete employee performance appraisals providing feedback on annual performance.
  • Coordinate all technologist assistants across all modalities.
  • Interview and select new staff for Inpatient Imaging Modalities.
  • Ensure adherence to infection control and universal protocol standards.
  • Oversee the quality assurance, JCAHO, IEMA, ACR and risk management programs.
  • Participate in staff meetings, educational and in-service events.
  • Attend leadership and other required meetings.
  • Assist the Radiologist / technologist with QA studies.
  • Maintain / demonstrate the knowledge, skills and abilities necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served at his / her assigned area.
  • Ensure all equipment is maintained properly and safe for use on patients.
  • Monitor the condition of patients while they are in the Medical Imaging Department.
  • Evaluate patient preps and make recommendations for change.
  • Evaluate product usage and monitor inventory levels.
  • Maintain all life support equipment in top operating condition.
  • Administer contrast media / medication / pharmaceuticals as instructed by the Radiologist or attending Physician.
  • Conduct periodic in-service presentations on Imaging matters.
  • Participate in special committee assignments for the Medical Imaging Department and Memorial Medical Center.
  • Coordinate and manage colleague licensure and other certifications required by the department.
  • Provide patient and family education.
  • Orient new technologist assistants, technologists, colleagues, nurses, residents, medical students, and transporters to the Imaging environment.
  • Maintain an efficient and neat working environment; maintain adequate inventory in areas of responsibility.
  • Performs other related work as required or requested.
