Description
RAM Aerospace has been powering flight and space exploration since 1975, delivering precision solenoids, valves, actuators, LVDTs, and RVDTs for commercial, defense, and space applications. Operating from facilities in St. George, Utah and Valencia, California, we build mission-critical components that the world's leading aerospace programs depend on. Join a team that builds the future of aerospace, on time, with excellence. Your career takes off here!
As an NDT Technician II at RAM Aerospace, you bring certified expertise and real depth to the inspection team responsible for protecting the integrity of components that power flight and space exploration. Working primarily with magnetic particle (MT) and fluorescent penetrant (PT) inspection methods, you will independently perform inspections to detect corrosion, defects, or other detrimental conditions in accordance with strict written criteria, interpreting indications and reporting results with the judgment that comes from real experience. Beyond your own inspection workload, you will serve as a technical resource and informal mentor to less experienced technicians, sharing your expertise and helping build NDT capability across the team, even without formal supervisory authority. If you are a certified, seasoned NDT professional who takes pride in precision and wants your expertise to shape the people around you, this role gives you the platform to do it.
Duties and Responsibilities
- NDT Inspection & Reporting: Independently perform liquid penetrant and magnetic particle inspections to detect discontinuities and ensure quality, in accordance with applicable specifications and standards. Interpret and report inspection results with confidence and accuracy, maintaining full traceability in all inspection records and documentation.
- Technical Mentorship & Guidance: Serve as a go-to technical resource for less experienced NDT technicians, sharing your expertise on inspection techniques, indication interpretation, and procedural interpretation. Help train and develop team members informally, strengthening the team's overall NDT capability even without formal supervisory responsibility.
- Equipment & Certification Support: Assist with the setup and calibration of nondestructive testing equipment, and help establish proper examination techniques for objects under inspection. Support the maintenance of RAM's NADCAP NDT certification, and perform NDT inspections for which you are certified.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Collaborate with Manufacturing, Engineering, and Quality teams to resolve inspection and quality issues, applying testing criteria consistently and evaluating results with sound technical judgment.
- Safety & Compliance: Maintain a safe, secure, and healthy work environment by adhering to Company and customer safety standards and legal regulations, alerting others to potential hazards or concerns. Utilize safe work practices at all times, including the safe handling of chemicals used in NDT processes.
Requirements
- Legal: Must be able to pass a comprehensive criminal background check and drug screening.
- ITAR: Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum (due to ITAR requirements).
- High school diploma or equivalent required. Technical training preferred.
- Current NDT Level II certification per NAS410 (or RAM's written practice equivalent) in Magnetic Particle Testing (MT) and Fluorescent Penetrant Testing (PT) required.
- Minimum 5 or more years of relevant NDT or manufacturing inspection experience, with demonstrated depth sufficient to work independently and mentor less experienced technicians.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, including Word and Excel.
- General knowledge of manufacturing processes.
- Proficient with basic math and science principles. Technical reading capability required.
- Mechanical inspection experience is a plus.
- Strong attention to detail with exceptional safety and quality awareness.
- Strong work ethic, dependable, and able to work independently with little to no supervision.
- Ability to solve problems creatively and work effectively within a team environment.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to train and mentor others and interface directly with customers when needed.
