SUMMARY:

MCAD is seeking a Custodian. This position is responsible for providing a clean, attractive and safe campus environment by performing general and detailed custodial work in academic buildings, apartment buildings and grounds. The Custodian must be sensitive to college needs, employee and student goodwill, and overall brand equity of MCAD as an employer and educational institution. 

DETAILS: This is a full time, non-exempt position expected to work 40 hours a week. This position reports to the Custodial Supervisor and is paid $19.10 hourly.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Perform a wide range of custodial duties in multiple settings.
• Take care of the assigned area daily following specific schedules, but must be flexible to the changing needs of the college and fill in for absent staff and assist others.
• Ensure that all custodial staff have access to and are using clean and functional personal protective equipment (PPE) at the correct times. 
• Contribute to the department’s ability to ensure primary custodial services continue in an emergency situation. 
• Move supplies and equipment as needed.
• Operate various kinds of equipment as needed.
• Support seasonal activities and institutional events.
• Report items that need repair or could cause a health or security problem.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
• Represent MCAD’s vision, mission, and values.
• Create and embrace a community of equal opportunities and inclusivity.

BACKGROUND: Founded in 1886, Minneapolis College of Art and Design is located in the rich creative community of the Twin Cities. Recognized nationally and internationally for its innovative approaches to art and design  education, MCAD is home to approximately 800 students from 45 states and 15 countries. The college offers bachelor’s degrees in fourteen disciplines including arts entrepreneurship, design, fine arts, and media arts; one MFA; three online master’s degrees; and continuing education classes for all ages. Through the core curriculum, students focus on their careers and craft by learning technical and professional skills while developing their creative leadership capabilities.
