Description

Overview

A warm family on the Upper East Side is seeking an experienced live-out nanny/family assistant to care for their two children, aged 3.5 and 5.5. years. They are seeking a candidate who is dependable, nurturing and takes pride in their work. The schedule will be 7:30am-6pm Monday through Friday, with flexibility required to start or end 30 or so minutes later on occasion. The core daily 10.5 hours/ 52.5 hours per week are guaranteed. Staying later or providing additional babysitting coverage is also much appreciated if candidates are willing.

The children are generally in school from approximately 9am-3pm daily, and school hours will include a combination of household support, errands, light cooking/meal preparation, child-related organization, and a quick walk for their small, friendly dog.

The nanny will typically be required to travel with the family from December 26–January 2 each year, and they sometimes spend extended periods away during the Summer. For example, last summer they spent the month of June in Rhode Island and sometimes they spend Summers in Los Angeles. Ideally, they would love to find a candidate who is comfortable accompanying them on longer Summer stays when needed.

The position is available to start as soon as possible.

Responsibilities

  • Getting the children to and from school safely and punctually (the children typically get to school on foot, by scooter, or by bus)

  • Preparing healthy, child-friendly dinners, lunchboxes, and snacks

Qualifications

The family are looking for someone who is:

  • Comfortable taking the role seriously and being a consistent, trusted presence in the children's lives

  • Comfortable around and willing to care for a small dog

  • Flexible and comfortable with family travel and changes in routine
