Description
Seeking a dedicated and structured professional to guide, mentor, and support youth residents in our care. This position will also take the lead role in the absence of a supervisor.
Resident Supervision and Development
- Supervise and support residents in following daily routines and schedules in accordance with the program’s behavior-modification practices.
- Coach residents in independent living, social interaction, self-care, personal hygiene, and related life skills. Provide crisis-intervention support as needed, including the use of passive restraint techniques when appropriate.
- Supervise homework and study periods and monitor library use.
- Participate in recreational and creative arts therapy activities, encourage resident engagement, and assist with program planning.
Safety, Health, and Emergency Response
- When the Program Manager or Youth Advocate Supervisor is unavailable, notify the appropriate authorities of runaways, legal-system involvement, and medical emergencies, as required.
- Supervise and assist residents with medication self-administration, as appropriate.
- Participate in the rotating on-call schedule.
Documentation and Staff Communication
- · Document resident performance, progress, and behavior accurately and promptly.
- · Communicate daily events and concerns to staff verbally and through the Communication Log. Maintain individual resident progress notes and, during the overnight shift, transfer appointments from the Appointment Calendar to the Communication Log.
Daily Operations and Resource Management
- Prepare meals as assigned; monitor resident behavior and food choices during meals; and manage food and supplies in accordance with inventory procedures.
- Perform all duties in accordance with program policies and procedures, and use supplies, equipment, inventory, and program property responsibly.
Agency and Team Responsibilities
- Uphold agency standards for confidentiality, quality, and productivity.
- Serve on staff committees as assigned or approved.

Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Human Services or related field with one year of related work experience is desired; however, an equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.
- Ability to respond appropriately to the cultural differences present among the agency’s service population.
- Must have valid drivers license which meets agency’s insurance requirements.
- Must have at least forty hours of training per year to include Medication Administration, CPR, First Aid, Passive Physical Restraint, and Crisis Control Techniques.
- Previous counseling experience, preferably with adolescents.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and accurately.
