We are searching for candidates that meet the required qualifications and experience and are able to perform the essential duties and responsibilities.

Job Summary:

Support the nursing program's simulation and clinical education efforts by managing, maintaining, and operating VR-based training systems. Work closely with faculty, simulation lab staff, and IT to ensure VR hardware and software function reliably for skills labs, clinical simulations, and competency assessments.

**This position is 100% grant-funded. Therefore, continuation of the position will be contingent upon continued external funding.**

Required Qualifications:

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Set up, calibrate, and maintain VR headsets, controllers, sensors, and related hardware used in nursing simulation labs

  • Install, update, and troubleshoot VR software platforms and simulation scenario content

  • Assist faculty in designing, building, or customizing VR simulation scenarios aligned with nursing curriculum objectives (e.g., patient assessment, medication administration, emergency response)

  • Provide technical support to students and instructors during VR-based labs and assessments

  • Monitor equipment performance, perform routine maintenance, and coordinate repairs or vendor support as needed

  • Manage inventory of VR devices, accessories, and licenses

  • Train faculty and staff on VR system use and best practices

  • Ensure VR stations meet safety, sanitation, and accessibility standards

  • Collect usage data and assist with evaluating the effectiveness of VR training tools

  • Maintain documentation for equipment, software licenses, and troubleshooting procedures

  • Stay current on emerging VR/AR technologies relevant to healthcare education

  • Manage and maintain scheduling of student assignments and appointments.

  • Management of the VR environment (Maintaining a quiet room, free of food and drinks, safe, professional, minimizing distractors, etc.)

  • Maintain confidentiality and student privacy as required by department policy and procedure.

Supplemental Functions

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Experience with VR hardware platforms (e.g., Meta Quest) and VR simulation software

  • Familiarity with healthcare or nursing environments preferred

  • Strong troubleshooting and technical support skills

  • Ability to communicate technical concepts clearly to non-technical faculty and students

  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational and inventory management skills

  • Ability to multi-task

 
Physical Demands, Working Conditions and Physical Effort
Light Work - Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly having to move objects. If the use of arm and/or leg controls requires exertion of forces greater than that for the Sedentary Work category and the worker sits most of the time, the job is rated Light Work. Positions in this class typically include talking, hearing, seeing, grasping, standing, walking and repetitive motions, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and reaching, plus climbing and balancing. Relatively free from unpleasant environmental conditions or hazards. Office environment. Occasional physical effort required.

 
Requirements

High school diploma or equivalency certificate and a minimum of six (6) months related experience.

Preferred

Associate degree in Information Technology, Instructional Technology, Healthcare Simulation, or related field (or equivalent experience).
