Overview

General Purpose of Job:

To plan, prepare and serve meals to clients and residents that come to The Salvation Army for Soup Kitchen or shelter.

Responsibilities

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES.

• Prepare all morning and lunch meals. This includes, but is not limited to:  Soup Kitchen, Shelter meals, Youth Program, Special Community Meals, Advisory Board lunch, Summer Food Program.
• Maintain Kitchen and kitchen office/storage areas.
• Maintain inventory of food supplies and paper goods.
• Provide Corps Officer with list of needed supplies for approval.
• Maintain, organize and clean food storage area.
• Supervise volunteers and shelter chores for food service work and clean-up.
• Ability to plan and produce balanced meals.
• Strong communication and organizational skills
• Ability to work autonomously and multi-task
• Good assessment skills and ability to address difficult situations with authority and compassion
• A love and compassion for individuals seeking assistance from The Salvation Army
• Supervise volunteers to ensure proper procedures are followed.
• Supervise shelter residents in clean-up.

 

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: N/A

Qualifications

MINIMUM EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

• High School Diploma or GED
• Previous experience in commercial kitchen and/or preparation and execution of large feeding program

 

 

SPECIAL SKILLS, CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS.   

• Current Ohio driver’s license
• Ability to pass OTIS test and drive a 12-passenger van
• Must be insurable by The Salvation Army
