Pulmonology - Senior Registrar

Job Summary:
The Senior Registrar is responsible for providing high-quality clinical care under the supervision of Consultants, while managing patients within their area of specialty. The role involves patient assessment, diagnosis, treatment planning, follow-up, and participation in emergency and on-call services. The Senior Registrar also supports junior medical staff and contributes to teaching, clinical audits, and quality improvement initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

• Assess patients, obtain comprehensive medical histories, and perform clinical examinations.
• Diagnose and manage patients within the scope of specialty and level of clinical responsibility.
• Develop and implement appropriate treatment plans in consultation with the Consultant when required.
• Manage routine and complex cases and escalate critical or complicated cases to the Consultant.
• Request, review, and interpret laboratory, radiological, and other diagnostic investigations.
• Provide appropriate follow-up and ensure continuity of patient care.
• Participate in emergency duties, on-call services, and urgent patient management as required.
• Perform procedures relevant to the specialty within their level of training and competency.
• Maintain accurate, complete, and timely medical records and clinical documentation.
• Collaborate with Consultants, specialists, nurses, and other healthcare professionals as part of a multidisciplinary team.
• Provide guidance and support to residents, interns, and junior medical staff.
• Participate in clinical rounds, departmental meetings, case discussions, and handovers.
• Contribute to teaching, training, clinical audits, research, and quality improvement activities.
• Adhere to hospital policies, clinical guidelines, patient safety standards, infection-control procedures, and regulatory requirements.
• Maintain professional knowledge and clinical competencies through continuing medical education.
• Ensure patient confidentiality, ethical practice, and a high standard of patient-centered care.
