Senior Manager Line 1 Risk – Home Buying

We are looking for driven and talented individuals to join the Retail Banking Services (RBS) Home Buying Line 1 Risk Team. You will be part of a high-performing team supporting our Home Buying business in empowering our home loan customers to achieve their goals with managing their cash flows, facilitating seamless and safe purchases, and home ownership.
Your Impact:
Home Buying Line 1 Risk Team is responsible for providing centralised support to the Home Buying (HB) Crews and Squads, by;
- Supporting the Domain and Crew-aligned risk teams to proactively identify and manage risks.
- Strengthening and simplifying our Line 1 Risk operational processes.
- Driving oversight and governance activities across Home Buying.
As a Senior Manager, you will proactively identify risks and opportunities across the Domain. You will work closely with senior stakeholders across RBS and the Group, build intimate knowledge of lending products and processes, and lead like an owner to help deliver our business objectives.
This is a 12 month opportunity
On any given day, you will:
- Provide centralised support to the Domain and Crew-aligned risk teams to proactively identify and manage risks.
- Conduct analysis, thematic reviews and deep dives to provide insights to crew-aligned teams within and across the Domain.
- Identify opportunities for capability uplifts.
- Pre-empt risks, gaps and opportunities and remove complexity to drive pragmatic solutions that ensure Lending customers’ experiences are delivered with efficiency and excellence.
- Strengthen and simplify our L1R operational processes.
- Develop consistency and simplification in the implementation of Operational Risk and Compliance Framework requirements across Domain.
- Oversee the quality of risk data and deliverables.
- Work collaboratively with the wider risk team to deliver best practice risk advice across the business.
- Establish performance metrics and reporting for Line 1 Risk and drive data quality in various systems (including RiskInSite and Jira) relevant to enable RBS-wide risk reporting.
- Proactively identify opportunities to improve processes.
- Deliver oversight and governance activities across the Domains.
- Drive non-financial risk governance.
- Operate and simplify centralised risk owned processes and controls, including business continuity advisory, access controls and delegations.
- Understand the pipeline of policy, regulatory and business changes, triage and coordinate responses.
- Manage Group governance and regulatory activities to ensure we maintain literally our licenses to operate. Examples include Statement of Responsibilities reviews, Director’s Questionnaire, ACL compliance, AUSTRAC and BCCC reporting.
- Guide, coach and lead junior members of the team ensuring the team produces delivers high quality outcomes.
We're interested in hearing from people who have:
- Deep understanding and experience in operational and compliance risks within financial services.
- Strong reasoning and influencing skills to work with senior stakeholders.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills and ability to articulate ideas clearly and effectively.
- Ability to independently drive and deliver outcomes and initiatives in a fast-paced, shifting environment.
- Experience coaching and developing a team of junior team members.
- Knowledge of Retail Lending products, processes and systems is highly desirable.
- Experience in performing reviews of critical processes to identify what can go wrong, control gaps/weaknesses and/or optimisation opportunities.
- Ability to analyse trends, identify critical threats and opportunities, diagnose problems and issues, and recommend appropriate actions.
