ABB Robotics is a leading supplier of industrial robots and robot software, in addition to its equipment, and complete application solutions. We are found in 53 countries and have installed more than 500,000 robots, supported by the broadest service network, and offering in the industry.
Now we are offering an exciting master thesis within Mechanical Analysis R&D.
You will be part of a team working with simulation, optimization and structural analysis of robotic systems.
The thesis focuses on developing advanced methods at the intersection of numerical simulation and engineering design. The work is mathematically oriented and involves geometric and computational modeling.

Your responsibilities
- The work will begin with a literature study related to relevant methods within simulation and modeling.
- The student will then analyze and interpret simulation data and investigate suitable computational approaches.
- The project includes developing and testing such approaches
- Implementing them in a numerical environment such as Python or MATLAB.
- Finally, the results are to be evaluated and documented, together with conclusions and recommendations.

Your background
- The project is particularly suited for students in Applied Mathematics or Engineering Physics.
- Essential skills include numerical analysis, linear algebra, and scientific programming in Python or MATLAB
- A solid background in geometry, including curves and surfaces, as well as prior coursework in differential geometry at an advanced undergraduate level, is expected.
- Fluent English in speaking and writing, English is the corporate language and used for all documentation.
- Ability to work independently while collaborating with the team.
