Housekeeper

Pay: Base Wage starting at $15; increased based on experience
Incentive Eligible Position: Yes


Essential Functions:

• Clean patient rooms nursing stations, surgical areas, administrative areas, lab, waiting areas and rest rooms.
• Launder some hospital and long term care linens. Prepare the linens that are to be sent to the contracted laundry service.
• Wipe down equipment, clean furniture, polish floors and vacuum carpets.
• Make beds, empty trash and collect dirty laundry.
• Follow safety guidelines for chemical use in the facility.
• Follow guidelines for hazardous materials handling.
• Follow procedures and protocols for proper sanitization per regulation standards regarding body fluids and contagions to prevent contamination.
• Respond to emergencies in relation to cleaning hospital environment.

Skills Abilities:

• Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with all levels.
• The ability to maintain an open mind to the acquisition of new skills and knowledge while on the job, especially the use of chemicals and understanding of basic safety procedures.
• Ability to perform simple mathematical equations.
• Ability to prioritize and complete multiple tasks simultaneously.
• Effective oral and written communication skills.
• Mathematical skills needed to mix cleaning agents appropriately in accordance with the prescription of the manufacturer

 

Working Conditions:

• Exposure to distressed patients, families or visitors.
• Possible exposure to inside environmental conditions.

Physical Demands:

• Requires standing, sitting or walking for up to 8 hours or longer per day.
• The ability to lift up to 50 lbs.

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or GED.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Housekeeping experience.
• Chemical handling experience
