Chemistry Support Technician I

Tentamus North America is on the search for a Chemistry Support Technician I to join our Analytical Food Laboratories team in Grand Prairie, Texas!

You'll organize and dispose of samples, assist in sample receiving, and support smooth operations for our chemistry lab.

HOW YOU WILL CONTRIBUTE AS THE CHEMISTRY SUPPORT TECHNICIAN I

The Chemistry Support Technician I serves as the first point of contact for samples received by the Chemistry Department and plays an important role in supporting the flow of samples through the laboratory. This position is responsible for ensuring samples are properly received, labeled, organized, prepared, retained, and disposed of according to established procedures and testing priorities. The technician also supports laboratory organization, inventory, and housekeeping activities to help maintain a clean, safe, and efficient working environment.

Primary responsibilities include but are not limited to:

• Understand and adhere to Analytical Food Laboratories' policies, procedures, SOPs, safety requirements, quality standards, ethics policies, and conflict-of-interest requirements.
• Maintain and organize samples throughout the testing process, including sample receipt and verification, labeling, prioritization, homogenization and preparation, retention, storage, retrieval, sub-outs, and disposal.
• Assist with sample preparation activities, including weighing samples and analytes according to established procedures.
• Maintain accurate, complete, legible, and traceable records for assigned activities within established client and laboratory timelines, including properly documenting corrections when necessary.
• Maintain clean and organized laboratory workspaces, including completing beginning- and end-of-shift walkthroughs, cleaning and properly storing glassware and supplies, returning chemicals and materials to designated storage locations, and completing routine waste disposal.
• Assist with laboratory inventory, supply organization, and ordering to help ensure appropriate materials and consumables are available for laboratory operations.
• Follow required safety procedures when handling samples, chemicals, laboratory materials, equipment, and waste, and participate in required departmental and safety training.
• Perform other duties as assigned by management.

POSITION & SCHEDULE:

This is a full-time, onsite position (40 hours per week) with a 1-hour unpaid lunch break. Training Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–5:00 PM for the first 90 days.

Following the training period, two positions are available, with one opening on each shift:

• Monday–Friday, 6:00 AM–3:00 PM
• Monday–Friday, 10:00 AM–7:00 PM

 

ESSENTIALS FOR SUCCESS

Our ideal candidate will possess a combination of organization and computer skills, attention to detail, reliability, and a willingness to learn. Previous experience in a laboratory, food testing or manufacturing, production, warehouse receiving, inventory, or another process-driven and detail-oriented environment is a plus but not required.

Other qualifications include:

• High school diploma or GED required; basic familiarity with chemistry or laboratory concepts preferred.
• Authorized to work in the United States indefinitely without restriction or sponsorship
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple samples, tasks, and priorities according to established procedures and timelines.
• Ability to follow written instructions, SOPs, and step-by-step processes while maintaining accurate and complete records.
• Basic computer proficiency, including experience with Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel, along with the ability to learn laboratory software, data-entry systems, and Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS).
• Dependable and punctual, with strong communication and teamwork skills and the ability to work independently while contributing to team goals.
• Willingness and ability to learn sample receipt, handling, homogenization and preparation, documentation, laboratory equipment, inventory, safety, and housekeeping procedures.
• Commitment to maintaining a clean, organized, safe, and efficient laboratory environment.
• Ability to perform the physical requirements of the position, including standing for extended periods and lifting, carrying, or moving items weighing up to 50 pounds, with or without reasonable accommodation.
