Your opportunity

Every day, lives are impacted by the ripple effects of family and domestic violence, but with the right support, change is possible. At Mission Australia, we walk alongside individuals and families to create safer homes, stronger relationships, and more hopeful futures. As a Program Facilitator within our Men’s Behaviour Change Program (MBCP), you will play a vital role in guiding participants to reflect on their behaviours, take responsibility, and build respectful, non‑violent ways of relating. This evidence‑informed group program is designed to improve safety and wellbeing for women, children, and families by supporting men to challenge harmful patterns and develop healthier relationships, contributing to stronger, more connected communities.

While experience in family and domestic violence or men's behaviour change programs will be highly regarded, we also encourage applications from candidates who may have less direct experience but have relevant qualifications, a strong interest in behaviour change work, and a genuine commitment to supporting safer families and communities.

If you are early in your career and keen to develop your skills in men's behaviour change, family and domestic violence practice, group facilitation, and risk assessment, we offer a supportive team environment with access to supervision, reflective practice, professional development, and mentoring from experienced practitioners.

Candidates with experience in related fields such as community services, counselling, mental health, alcohol and other drugs, youth work, child and family services, corrections, or case management are encouraged to apply.

Your key responsibilities will be to:

  • Facilitate Men’s Behaviour Change Program group sessions in line with program standards and best practice
  • Conduct intake, assessment and risk screening for participants entering the program
  • Support participants to reflect on their behaviour, take accountability and develop non‑violent relationship skills
  • Contribute to safety planning and risk management in collaboration with internal and external stakeholders
  • Provide individual support sessions as required to reinforce learning and address participant needs
  • Maintain accurate, timely case notes, records and reporting in line with organisational requirements
  • Work collaboratively with partner services to support integrated responses to family and domestic violence
  • Participate in clinical supervision, reflective practice and ongoing professional development
  • Contribute to program evaluation, continuous improvement and quality assurance activities
  • Promote a culturally safe, inclusive and respectful environment for all participants

Requirements for success

  • Relevant tertiary qualifications in Social Work, Psychology, Counselling or a related human services field, and/or significant demonstrated experience within the human services sector
  • Demonstrated experience working within family and domestic violence or behaviour change programs or related human services settings highly regarded
  • Sound understanding of, or a willingness to develop knowledge of, the drivers and impacts of family and domestic violence
  • Experience facilitating groups and engaging participants in behaviour change conversations, or demonstrated interest and capability to develop these skills
  • Ability to undertake risk assessments and contribute to safety planning or willingness to learn under appropriate supervision
  • Highly developed communication skills, including the ability to hold participants accountable in a respectful manner
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team
  • Demonstrated commitment to trauma‑informed and strengths‑based practice
  • Sound administrative and case management skills, including accurate documentation
  • Current NSW open Driving License

Before starting work with us, you will need to undertake a national police history check, qualifications, and referee checks, and have a clearance to work with children/vulnerable people.

To ensure our employees feel valued, empowered, and celebrated, we provide a range of employee benefits including:

  • Rewarding work – every day you know you’re making a real difference
  • Not-for-profit salary packaging, reducing your tax (details via AccessPay)
  • Free external, confidential counselling and access to chaplaincy support
  • Volunteering opportunities
  • Opportunity to purchase additional annual leave
  • Extra leave including: Mission Australia Thank You Day & Work Anniversary Day off
