We're looking for a Technology Risk Advisory Lead to join our Technology Risk & Control team. Reporting to the Head of Technology Risk & Control, you'll act as a trusted advisor to senior Technology leaders, providing strategic risk guidance across Retail, COO (Chief Operations Office) and Technology Platforms. You'll play a key role in shaping risk-informed decision making, overseeing technology risk profile, driving control uplift initiatives, and helping Technology operate within risk appetite.
This is a highly visible leadership role where you'll work closely with the CIO Leadership Team, Technology stakeholders, Business & Risk partners and regulators, while leading a team of technology risk professionals.
What you’ll do …
- Execute strategies for the designated technology domain in alignment with broader organizational goals and priorities.
- Collaborate with the Technology teams and other stakeholders to define roadmaps, milestones, and success criteria for technology projects within the domain.
- Lead the implementation of technology initiatives, projects, and solutions within the domain, ensuring timely delivery and adherence to quality standards.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for stakeholders within the domain, including business units, internal teams, and external partners.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with stakeholders, understanding their requirements, priorities, and challenges to effectively advocate for technology solutions and drive alignment throughout the project lifecycle.
- ensure reliability, security and performance of critical IT assets within the domain
- Lead and mentor a high-performing Technology Risk Advisory team, fostering a culture of accountability, continuous improvement and risk excellence.
- Lead the preparation and presentation of technology risk matters to Executive and Board governance committees, providing insights and recommendations on key technology risks, control effectiveness, risk appetite and remediation activities to support effective governance and informed decision-making.
What we’re looking for…
- 10+ years' experience in Technology Risk, IT Audit, IT Governance, or Technology Advisory within a regulated financial services environment or Big 4 consulting firm.
- Demonstrated experience providing end-to-end technology risk advisory across both BAU (Run) and Project/Change (Build) environments.
- Strong understanding of technology domains including cloud, infrastructure, cybersecurity, platform engineering, architecture, site reliability engineering and data platforms.
- Solid experience working with APRA Prudential Standards (CPS220, CPS230, CPS234) and broader regulatory obligations impacting banking technology.
- Proven ability to influence and build credibility with senior stakeholders, including CIOs, Technology Executives, Risk Committees, Audit Committees and regulators.
- Experience leading teams, driving capability uplift, resource planning and fostering high-performance cultures.
- Strong knowledge of risk management frameworks, including RCSA, risk assessments, incident and issue management, and Non-Financial Risk (NFR) frameworks.
- Strong analytical and critical thinking capability, with the ability to apply pragmatic, risk-based judgement, and the ability to translate complex risk insights into meaningful business outcomes.
