Description
STV is seeking an experienced Project Manager – Electrical Systems & Renewable Energy to join our growing Systems Department in our New York City office. This role is ideal for a technically strong project manager with a background in electrical design, fire alarm systems, and renewable energy solutions who can successfully lead multidisciplinary engineering teams through the planning, design, and delivery of complex transportation, infrastructure, institutional, and energy-related projects.
The successful candidate will combine technical expertise with strong project management capabilities, overseeing project execution from concept through final design while ensuring quality, schedule, budget, and client satisfaction objectives are achieved. This individual will serve as a mentor to junior engineers, perform technical reviews, and help develop the next generation of engineering talent within the Systems practice.
Key Responsibilities
Project Leadership & Delivery
Lead electrical engineering and systems design projects from planning and conceptual development through final design and construction support.
Manage project scope, schedules, budgets, staffing plans, and project deliverables.
Coordinate multidisciplinary project teams consisting of electrical, communications, systems, civil, structural, and construction professionals.
Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, stakeholders, contractors, and project partners.
Monitor project performance and proactively identify risks, opportunities, and corrective actions.
Ensure projects are delivered on schedule, within budget, and in accordance with contractual requirements.
Electrical & Fire Alarm Systems Design
Lead and oversee the design of electrical power distribution systems, lighting systems, emergency power systems, and associated infrastructure.
Manage the design and implementation of fire alarm and life safety systems in accordance with applicable codes and standards.
Review engineering calculations, technical specifications, design reports, drawings, and construction documents.
Ensure compliance with NEC, NFPA, International Building Code (IBC), local jurisdictional requirements, and applicable client standards.
Coordinate system interfaces with communications, controls, security, and other building or transportation systems.
Renewable Energy & Sustainability Solutions
Support and lead the development of renewable energy solutions including solar photovoltaic systems, battery energy storage systems, microgrids, EV charging infrastructure, and energy resilience initiatives.
Evaluate and implement innovative technologies that improve sustainability, energy efficiency, and system reliability.
Collaborate with clients and project teams to develop net-zero and decarbonization strategies.
Provide technical guidance related to renewable energy integration and electrification programs.
Team Leadership & Mentorship
Lead teams of engineers and designers on complex projects.
Mentor, develop, and provide technical guidance to junior and mid-level engineers.
Conduct design reviews, quality assurance reviews, and interdisciplinary coordination reviews.
Assist with recruiting, onboarding, professional development, and performance coaching initiatives.
Promote engineering excellence and continuous improvement across the Systems team.
Client Management & Business Development
Develop and maintain strong client relationships.
Participate in project pursuits, proposal development, and technical presentations.
Identify opportunities for expanded services and repeat work.
Represent STV at industry meetings, conferences, and client engagements.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred or ability to obtain.
10+ years of progressive experience in electrical systems engineering and project management.
Demonstrated experience managing multidisciplinary engineering projects.
Strong background in:
Electrical power distribution design
Fire alarm and life safety systems
Renewable energy systems and sustainable infrastructure solutions
Project planning, execution, and client management
Experience leading technical teams and coordinating engineering deliverables.
Strong understanding of NEC, NFPA, IEEE, and related industry standards.
Excellent communication, leadership, and organizational skills.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office and standard engineering/design software platforms.
Preferred Qualifications
Professional Engineer (PE) license.
Project Management Professional (PMP) certification.
Experience supporting transportation, rail, transit, aviation, vertical building, or institutional projects.
Knowledge of energy storage systems, solar generation, microgrids, EV infrastructure, and resiliency planning.
Experience working with public agencies, municipalities, transit authorities, or major infrastructure clients.
Experience managing multiple concurrent projects and engineering teams.

Compensation Range:
