Description
The Utility Coordinator / Engineering Project Manager is responsible for overseeing industrial utility projects throughout the United States and Canada. Working closely with FPS Central Utility Engineering (CUE), the sales team, customers, contractors, and suppliers, this role coordinates utility-related projects from concept development and budgeting through installation, commissioning, and start-up. Utility systems may include steam, refrigeration, electrical power, compressed air, ventilation, and water treatment and distribution systems. These systems are essential to the safe and continuous operation of food processing facilities.
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate the design and engineering of utility systems in collaboration with FPS Central Utility Engineering (CUE).
- Provide technical expertise and project support to the sales team as needed.
- Serve as a liaison between the sales team and the Director of Global Utilities.
- Collaborate with local suppliers, vendors, contractors, and other project stakeholders to develop accurate project estimates and budgets.
- Coordinate and manage the procurement, supply, installation, and implementation of utility systems.
- Develop and maintain project schedules, coordinate project activities, and monitor progress to support timely and successful project completion.
- Coordinate and oversee the commissioning and start-up of utility systems.
- Provide project coordination and technical support throughout all phases of utility-related projects.
- Travel to customer facilities and project sites throughout the United States and Canada as required.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Skills and Qualifications
- A bachelor’s degree or technical diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Electromechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related engineering discipline; or
- Extensive relevant experience in the installation, operation, maintenance, or management of industrial utility systems.
- Strong working knowledge of industrial steam, refrigeration, electrical power, compressed air, ventilation, and water treatment and distribution systems.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, technical specifications, and project documentation.
- Advanced English communication skills, including the ability to communicate effectively with customers, contractors, suppliers, and internal teams.
- Ability to travel and work throughout the United States and Canada.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
- Functional knowledge of AutoCAD is an asset but not required.
- Experience with 3D drafting or modeling software is considered an asset
Work Location and Travel Requirements
This position may be based anywhere in the United States and operates in a hybrid work environment, combining remote work with travel to customer facilities, manufacturing environments, and construction or installation sites throughout the United States and Canada. Travel is currently anticipated to average approximately one week per month; however, actual travel requirements may vary based on project needs, customer requirements, and business demands. Candidates should be comfortable working in industrial environments that may include exposure to varying temperatures, humidity, noise, dust, and other site-specific conditions, while complying with all applicable safety requirements.
